Hey guys....was wondering if someone could help with a little problem ive got. I took my z to a mechanic to change the master cylinder and while it was there i got him to fit a new exhaust (from the turbo back - removed cats). He mentioned something about a couple of sensors that he removed also. He told me that i didnt need them. However now whenever i slow down to a stop the engine wants to stall and i need to rev it slightly to get it to idle properly. Im pretty sure that him removing those sensors has made the problem. Wondering if anyone can confirm..... Im also in the process of changing the ecu to a lt12s and was wondering if the problem will continue after the installation of the new comp. Thanks guys.
No, the sensors he would have removed are the cat over temp sensors. Car will work fine without them. It will be something else causing the problem...
where are these sensors you speak of? the exhaust has O2 and cat temp sensors. if he left the cat temp sensors out then it makes no difference. if he left O2s out then it's a different ball game. just reset your ECU. i had to do that after fitting a new exhaust. it coughed and puffed since it wasn't used to the extra flow.
Assuming you don't have access to a laptop and consult cable, just undo one battery lead for half and hour.
removing the cats would of reduced so much of the back pressure so as others have said the car wont know whats goin on
Ok, so ive removed too much back pressure - does that mean when i upgrade my ecu to the lt-12s microtech and get it tuned the problem will get sorted? By the way thanks heaps guys for your help.....
Your nissan ECU will learn whatever it needs to to sort itself out for the increased fuel delivery required when reducing back pressure. Reset the self learn if you can.. or disconnect the battery for an hour. Or turn the car on and off like 20 times. All of those should sort it.
You can also put the ecu in diagnostic mode with a paper clip in the consult port 3 times and it will clear it too.
