    Howdy Y'all...
can anyone help - trying to get the driver's side exhuast cam cover off but the rear is pinned down by the steel EGR pipe. I've removed the side bracket near the back of the motor but can't get at the bolt for the bracket way round the back. I've tried to flex the pipe as much as i dare but i can't get the back of the cam cover forward over the rear camshaft bearing. The cover is loose , all bolts are out - and everything else around it is out. I can move the cover a cm in all directions and lift the front a fair way but she aint comin out.
Any one had this problem ?

    cheers

Yes, another hardy thanks to Mr Nissan. I had a lot

of trouble too. As I remember it you have to pull the pipe back towards the side of the car and up at the same time enough to lift the cover off free of the cams and then slide it out. There is actually quite a bit of bending possible with the pipe and if you are going to block the EGR off at the bottom of the plenum then you probably won't do that much damage to the pipe anyway. I've got bad news for you though - putting the cover back on with the sealer all round is the hard part. Keep at it though as it is worth doing because these engines are quite old and need resealing. Don't be afraid - just pull back with all your might. Someone helping could be handy but I did mine alone. Good luck. Cheerz.

i ended up pulling it across and down.
Yep - the description on the TTzed tech page mentioned that putting it back on can be tough and messy, thanks for the warning - now i have an idea of what lies ahead......

    Thanks Barry !
Not doing much this time 'cos the heads will have to come off ( cylinders 2 & 6 have low compression ) so i'm just fixing the oil leaks and some other stuff to get it over the pits here for rego.
So this is kind of a trial run. Next time i'll replace all the hoses n bits and maybe cut the EGR - but i'm still in two minds about that.
Might take you up on your kind offer at that time.
It's taking me a while but hopefully will be much quicker next time.
    Great to hear from you.
    cheers
