Ok i have been searching the tech sections, and have found loads of useful information on erratic idling but one thing that isin't really explained to me is what damage is this doing, and will the engine ever cut out because of it. Obviously i know that its something that needs to be fixed, but i would like to know, that is there a likely chance that my engine will cut out all together, because at the lights i'm scared to hell that its just going to die, when i gets to like crazy low rev's and also while i have this problem what is it doing to my car? should i just avoid driving it at all costs till it is fixed? On a side note wow our tech section is crazy its basically given me like 20 different causes of erratic idling and am pretty confident that i have narrowed it down to 10 probable causes. Air Regulator Throttle Bodies Coolant temperature sensor Throttle Position Sensor Power Balance Ignition Coils Spark plugs Injectors MAS Fuel delivery PTU Lol i know that doesn't really narrow it down much, but at least now i know what i need to ask Tom (PZP) to check for me :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:
ah nah i mean that this is my second thread on the topic, still isin't fixed or been attempted to be fixed, i'm waiting on Tom to see if i can go through him, and get a few extra things done along the way... think of it as my xmas present to my zed
I have the opposite to you. Sometimes my car will randomly idle at 1.5k and stay there the whole drive. Ill jump in the car the next day and it will be perfectly fine and then 2 days later ill fire it up and for the whole drive if i stop itll idle at 1.5k the whole time and it seems to be at random and i still havent found out what could be doing it
no they are not but thats why im going to Tom to see if i can get done. but i just want to make sure i knew what else needs to be looked at, and to see if its damaging my car i say no, but its had its 100k service (when i got the car) and i've got 116 on the clock, so yer.
i know i know :bash: been a bit of a bad zedder.... but main question is, will the engine cut out when the idling is doing what it is doing? and should i avoid driving it till its serviced and fixed?
sorry i cannot answer that question but it would be fair to say that should you continue to drive as it is the situation would deteriorate and stalling could result.
If it does it when the car is warm, I'd rule out the air regulator. If it happens erratically, it's probably electrical. Check your Coolant temp sensor with a laptop. If you're free this weekend, you can pop around and I'll have a quick look.
i replaced this on mine last week and was plesantly suprised that the Nissan dealer on Albany hwy carried them in stock , i had expected to have to order it. from memory they are around $60. .
yer it does it all the time, when im driving its all ok, but when im at the lights or where ever, then it does it then
i fought idle issues for a year. BEST THINGS 2 DO NEW 02 SERIES 2 PTU new wiring harness or 11 new plugs (6 for injectors 2 for iacv and aac and 1 for cts) NEW CTS and clean all electrical terminals. if that doesnt work, new IACV and new AAC valve my idle is now solid as a rock this is assuming you have eliminated boost leaks!
yer thats some of the things ive asked tom to look into doing, as well as a plenum pull and all thoes sort of things
