4300K is the safest colour from a defect perspective... I have 6000K and they are a bit blue, about the same as 300C headlights. Visibility on wet roads is a bit crap.

Actually I think I will go into this GB just to get 4300K's :)

    1. Supersonic (35w, 6000K, H3)
    2. Mr zed x - rod - 35w slimline 8000k H3
    3. ichizora - 35W 4300k H3
    4. aazn - 6000k H1 will decide on watts later.
    5. ProckyZ89 - H3 35W 8000k slimline (might be easier to mount)
    6. Romonski - 35w slimline 8000k H3
    7. Dark3n666 - 35W 6000K
    8. Chrispy - 35W 4300K H3

The reason is not the OEM look, it is the clean super white very bright 4300K light. I have lo and hi done and the view behind all four going at once is just superb. Beats me why anyone would settle for less by going any shade of blue (or pink).

4300 is brighter than 6000. do you have bi-xenons in your H1 highbeams barry? or you mean all 4 light up when you hit the high beams?

    1. Supersonic (35w, 6000K, H3)
    2. Mr zed x - rod - 35w slimline 8000k H3
    3. ichizora - 35W 4300k H3
    4. aazn - 6000k H1 will decide on watts later.
    5. ProckyZ89 - H3 35W 8000k slimline (might be easier to mount)
    6. Romonski - 35w slimline 6000k H3
    7. Dark3n666 - 35W 4300K
    8. Chrispy - 35W 4300K H3
    9. Red-Z - 35W 4300 H3 slimline
    10.

EDIT: considering the normal ballasts are about the size of a cigarette pack, are we still keen on the slimlines? I'll try get quotes for both

Where are people thinking of mounting the ballasts, that you'd need slimline profiles for?

I made the change to the dimmer relay (known as the Pexmod) that keeps the low beams on when the high beams are selected. Gives you a beautiful sharp white light spread. :) :)

A lot of people only do the low beams because they are used most often, but if you do any country driving at night, four HIDs plus the Pexmod is absolutely fantastic.

Getting the headlight aiming right takes time and patience. The aiming points in the Workshop Manual are not all that relevant to 20 year old sagging springs, or lowered ones.

I think the slim ones can fit under the headlight. The normal ones can't.

2k xenon style? How fiddly would this be (do headlights need to come out)?

Hmmmm, I think they would have to come out, well the front bar off if you don't take the lights out.

front bar has to come off to take the headlights out anyway. taking the headlights off is a PITA in a TT but not too bad in an N/A
