Time to start a GB thread! Ok so we have plenty of interest in windscreen cowls, can we start a group buy thread and get the ball rolling?
Yep, looks good plenty of interest so I'll organise some quotes this week and open a group buy thread as soon as I have prices.
Pricing update.... Just a quick update to let you all know that I have some prices and they are very good. In fact I expect to be able to beat the prices even from the last GB in 2009, so if you are on the fence consider this carefully as I wouldn't expect to see them this cheap again. As a second note, I will release all of the details and prices in the GB thread once I have confirmed that Nissan can supply enough of them. I'm currently waiting to hear back from them about availability at Nissan Japan. Once they have confirmed they can supply enough I'll start the group buy. Watch this space.....
Hi Marcus - just a comment on availability ex Japan from the last GB ... When I placed the order, there were only a few mouldings held by Nissan Aust. They started arriving after about 4 weeks, and continued coming in dribs and drabs until all 29 sets were received after 12 weeks. I ended up making about 8 trips to the Nissan dealer, and sent out items in order of receiving deposits. Cheers, Mikey.
Yeah I can confirm this! When I got the quote from Blackburn the manager said there are currently only 8 cowls in Oz! & they are all the same side?......can't remember which side?.....but I bet its the passenger side as this is the one most people need! he said to fill a large order ex Japan we would be looking at approx a 2 month wait!
thats pretty much normal for a group buy these days isnt it......not many dont take months to finalise, its just the norm.............
Thanks for the heads up guys. When I put up the GB thread I'll be sure to disclose to all who wish to take part, that this will likely be the way it happens and hence before getting involved in the GB they need to understand there might be a waiting period.
Update.... It may be some time before I can start an office GB thread. I've been in contact with the local Nissan parts dealer numerous times now and the problem is they are not getting any response from Nissan Japan. I suspect it is most likely the result of the terrible devastation cause by the tsunami that has just hit Japan. I cant seem to get any information on what areas are effected and if those areas are where the Nissan warehouses and factories are. I'll update again when I know more.
Nissan factories and warehouses would be fine Most of Nissan's factories and warehouses are in or around Yokohama which is south of Tokyo. Earth quake hit Northern Japan near Sendai, the two cities are probably a similar distance as Sydney is to Brisbane. Tell your local Nissan parts dealer to try harder! I want my windscreen cowl!
Yeah mate. Fukushima is a big car area. I think Nissan, Mitsubishi and possibly Mazda have facilities there. I'd imagine the parts warehouses are further south (near the biggest ports and airports) though. I'm in if you get a group buy going though. Cheers
