Just seeing if there is any interest in fibreglass copies of the stock 2+2 spoiler which should be far less prone to blistering and rusting the hatch than the stock foam ones. I am looking into the option of getting one made and obviously it would be somewhat cheaper if there were more than just one being done. No idea about costs yet but I think it would vary wildly depending on how many were being made.

Ah, didn't realize they sold an OEM copy along with the kaminari ones.

    Thanks.

A locally produced copy would be better IMO.

no worries pete :) not sure if they're 2+0 or 2+2 or whatnot but it's an option. I think something local will cost a similar amount once the mould is taken etc. Maybe ask forum member fleming if he's gotten anywhere with his fibreglassing, last i heard he was trying to make 2k spec front bumpers.

Yeah, his mould developed a problem if I remember correctly. All we need is a fibreglasser to make a mould from a perfect spoiler (or a fibreglass copy) and we're good. Gonzo had a good price for these - its a shame he's not doing them now. My spoiler is shagged :(

Spoilers and lips sent from the USA cost stupid amounts of money. The box is huge. Local would definitely be the go.

OK, so it might be worth looking at group shipping with the Zeta one too.

The guy I am thinking of asking to do it is not cheap but he will make sure it fits before any of them go anywhere.

I don't actually know if he wants to do it or not yet either, I just thought I would see what interest there was before I approached him.

I want a TBO lip for the Z, it's $230 from the USA but it will cost $800 landed. The stupid thing is I'm still going to get it because I want it badly but jesus! Almost worth getting it cut in half to fit into a smaller box and then just mending it here! lol

I think its a good idea Peter, most peoples rear wings are screwed

I was lucky enough to find a near new one on a factory shelf, but coming across a good wing with no rust in it is very rare.

The problem with the rusty ones are once rusted it is always going to make the paint bubble once repainted, there is next to no way of stopping it from happening again as it gets between the rubber

Most of the copies on the forum are not test fitted before sales(no names ,but ive seen them and they couldnt have been ),so if your man can make and verify fitment,i reckon he would get a fair amount of business from the guys here

The easiest thing to do is get someone whos a fibreglass expert.

Then chip in the money (group buy) a single one, get the expert to mould.

And then group buy off the expert at a cheaper rate.

And for all the above, i dont know if its possible but would certainly be the easiest way to do it in my opinon.

    just my AUD $0.02

I don't think it's just a matter of making a mould off an old wing. The old wing is soft and will not keep it's shape once taken off. Bubbles and waves must be smoothed out and the front end needs to be designed to it is actually possible to attach it to the tail gate.

A soft wing thats a bit wavy or out of shape can be made to fit. A fiberglass wing cannot.

That'd all be well and good if only I knew more than 2 other people with the same Z as me! lol

I am guessing that you would make the mould while the wing is on the hatch but I will have to speak to the expert about that, anything I say would just be guesses.

If there is some interest I will look into the costs of making a fibreglass one locally and making sure it fits and also the costs of group shipping for a few from Coz and see what people think.

Honestly, Fibre glassing is cheap as shit to do.. usually around $20-50in materials per. It wouldn't even be that for a spoiler, The front bars i estimated use around 3litres of gel Being generous and using a Paintgun

If i still had my stock spoiler i'd do it. but i have other projects to do
Speaking of which lol them 2Kbars I've almost finished.

It's really not that hard to fiberglass if you can find a perfect example and actually measure and make a frame on how it'll sit so it wont cure warped.

the only hard part about it is doing it in such away you can pull the mold out when done.

Heaps of youtube videos on how to fiberglass peter on how to do it yourself!

Plus start how i did, Grab something for instance like a plastic bin and make a mold out of that, you can buy little kits for around $20-25 from AutoPro
