I think with all the problem I'm haveing with the wiring harness it might be safer to replace the whole lot in the near future. Was looking on TTZ site and they have a whole harness and not badly priced when you think of replacing the coil connecters is over $100. Judging from the check out process shipping would be no more then 20USD. Bring the the item landed on your front door to around 1093.00AUD not bad investment. So i think for the time being I'll patch up the wiring harness then fix this complete head ache with a brand new harness for piece of mind :D

cheaper than that.. TTZ is aussie :) you can get cheaper still getting it from the US but there are slight differences in the harness, maybe someone else can elaborate.

If there cheaper again here in aus

do you know the site at all. I'd be pretty keen to order one. Considering a second hand one is going to be $250 which i'm not complaining about just that little extra and it new.

There is a group buy price if you want to organise a few people to buy them to help cut the price.

apparently the ones from the US are for left hand drive models and they dont fit right hand drive without cutting and extending some wires, i'm not sure whether the TTz ones are LHD or RHD but i would get a definite answer first, otherwise i guess its genuine OEM for a RHD

Wiring loom replacements are in most

    cases overkill...

99% of time, only the wiring connectors are bad which can be replaced dirt cheap. Coilpack connectors usually don't need replacing - if plastic bits are broken and coilpack connector slides up the coilpack you can secure with cable ties, Injector, CTS, AAC, FIDC connectors are all the same generic plug available for ~$7 ea... from various places

If I recall you have harness damage to CAS/PTU. It would be FAR easier and cost almost nothing to run new separate wires from ECU to CAS/PTU... Not that hard with the wiring diagram in front of you. You will have FAR more probs pulling and replacing the whole loom with engine/dash in car...not to mention the ~$1K cost...

All you need is the ECU pinout diagram (found in tech section>Service manual) - run fresh wires through pass side firewall then to CAS/PTU.

Re: buying a 2nd hand loom- again- same probs getting it in the car without damaging the wires again...

I bought a LHD harness from Coz,

for US $350, because Nissan wanted au $1450 locally. Nothing has to be cut or resoldered, the only differences is that the 2 or 3 plugs on the harness have to be rotated/turned 180% (no hassle at all)and it also appears to be about 6 inches longer overall, thats all. Changing the harness requires removing the whole dash to get to and remove the harness retaining bracket which is mounted to the inside firewall behind the A/c.

In the 6 months prior to replacing the harness I recorded at least 6 different error codes including hunting and hesitation problems, however in the 12 months since replacing it I haven't had 1 error code and my car hasn't missed a beat.

If your problems are in your ptu/cas wiring as mark suggests it would be a much easier option to replace that sub harness alone as opposed to changing harnesses. Goodluck with it.

Wouldn't the us harness be longer

because all the sensors on the engine will be the same no matter what and would the ecu be located in the foot well aka right side for the US there fore making it longer for the jap version? I found a site damn cheap and brand new $469.995 AUD and that's delivered check out the site. Maybe we could get a GB on these. I wonder if they would lower the price anymore

I unrwapped and re-wrapped every single wire in the engine bay harness and the efi harness. Out of every wire, the only damaged ones were some of the injector/coil pack ones, right at the top the wire had split probably from people taking them on/off so many times. The rest of them were fine and virtually like new, still soft.

What are the odds of being able to make your own replacement harness anyway? :p

I am tempted to do this as a side project in the lead up to more serious engine work. I can follow wire and circuit diagrams but I don't think they tell you the length of the wires required. Want to get my hands on a stock wiring harness (even a dead, old one) so I can run the lengths of the wires

    wiring harness

I'm sure it wouldn't be a prob, but do you want to go to the trouble of matching all the wire colours or one standard colour with number like used in the elctrical industry
