Hey everyone, I've just finished pulling my engine, and I'm in the process of preparing the new one for the install, having never done this with a zed before I was curious as to whether it is easier to reinstall the engine and transmission in one piece. Or should I just leave the tranny in there and drop the engine in when it's done?
Also, can anyone give any tips?

    Cheers fellas

when i put my box and engine back in, i got the rear of the car as high as i could, and put it all in at once.

took about 20min to have it bolted in place. (2 of us working on it)

I pulled the engine some years ago, to change some core plugs which i couldn't get to.. and Nissan wanted $2000 at the staring price for just pulling the engine. Leave the tranny in... but be sure to use an engine stabiliser on the engine hoist (allows you to tilt the engine without any effort) as you will need to angle the engine in... took about 10min to place it back in spot...its a very tight fit as you angle it in.. so be patient and be sure to have your radiator out too. Good luck... and you will need about 2 people to reposition it in.

Well it's just me by myself :p but I'm a pretty tough bloke so I'll give it a crack by myself. Should all be ready to go in soon so I'll take some pics and see what you guys think.

I would hate to install an engine & transmission by myself! We managed to install a VH+trans in one piece, so a VG should be no problem... that was 3 of us lol, 1 moving the crane, 1 standing on the engine/tranny, 1 jacking the gearbox from under the car... I think it would take me hours to do it myself:eek:

    Engine and tranny

together by myself took about 1hr to have bolted up to the mounts. VERY tight fit for my first experience. (sounds naughty) I think if I had of dropped the crossmember/kframe (whatever it's called) It would have fitted much easier.

I taped rags all over the engine bay and tunnel so to avoid any scratches as I pushed the hoist closer to the right spot. Worked perfectly. So you can do it by yourself just take your time.

If this makes no sense I have had 2 beers and am getting old so I apologise

Yeah mate that's what I was thinking hey. I've got plenty of gear so I figured all I would need is time. So I have from Friday avo until Sunday night. That's plenty of time ;D

New engine (new to the car) looks pretty nice and clean so I'll post pics when ready :)
