    Hey all!!!

Just a few questions in regards to a 1990 TT manual. Used to be Fate's Zed.

    * in the process of pulling engine out. Following tech guide. Havin some trouble getting the top 2 bolts off the transmission housing, while the plenum is still on. Do i need to take the plenum off???
Cant access these bolts from the bottom. Have searched threads but cant find anything that will walk me threw the disconnecting of these last two bolts

*Also once its out the turbo's need replacing. Is it safe to bolt brand new turbos onto an old engine. If the engine packs up down the track whats the chances of the turbo's being destroyed in the process???

    Cheerzzz:D

You can get the top two bolts from the bottom. You'll need a 1/2" breaker bar, 1/2" uni joint, 2 1/2" 1' extension and you can do it. About a quarter turn of slop in with all the joints though :p

If the engine goes the turbo's should be OK. About the worst you'll do if you blow the engine is cook the turbos from being too hot with no new oil or coolant going through them.

It'll be good to see Fate's old Zed out and about.

    easier way...

hook the engine up to the crane... lift both up out of their mounts and lower it... the gear box will drop down and the engine will pivot.

then get a 36" extender bar and come in from behind the gear box and you can get the bolts..

I hated using uni joints and this way you can get right on them

easy.. but take the bolts all the way out or undo the earth line from the body.. it was holding the box in place via an undone bolt

i agree, i used a long 3/8 drive extension, uni and i found a deep 14 mm socket was the go

Is the stock oil pump sufficient for a modified Zed???

While im in the midst of modifying i will replace the old oil cooler with an after market bigger one.
Should i also replace the stock oil pump??? or will it be sufficient for a Zed running around 300-350 rwkw???
    Cheers

Good to see the zed still has a future :) you did a good thing Sean. This guys got a good head start being a new zed owner. I'm sure most of us were clueless about the car in the beginning. I know I was

    Stock oil

will handle that no problem.Really no one ever changes the oil pump, except in the case of a rebuild, and then a stock nissan pump is used no matter what power their looking for.

    awesome!

good to see someone fixing fates zed :)

Has he got larger injectors? you'll need them for bigger turbos :D

Yeah Sean had 650cc injectors fitted with a custom rail made up for em.
Should run sweet with the new turbo's im thinkin. Hopefully they'll fit in without to many head aches.

    Very Upsetting

Brings tears to the eyes to see the engine out again, but even more so to be in the hands of someone other than myself :(....

Such a great car when she was running, oh i'll miss those days like you wouldn't believe.

Great to see the work being done so quickly. She's gone to good hands.

*sigh* Keep up the good work Mate, and keep those pictures rolling :cool2: Fate

Stock oil pump is fine. the cooler is probably ok too since its not a full flow setup anyway

Yeah Nissan OEM oil pumps are bloody good, they rarely fail. I dont even know of anyone personally who had one go bad on them.
