Anyone dropped the AT outta a 300 without the use of a hoist?

If so, what's your secret? :)

Well Adam when I recently fitted 'Your Old Turbos' I took the transmission out with 2 trolley jacks, one on the round rubber stopper on the back and the other tied to the bell housing. Make sure before you start to drain the oil form the tranny sump pan as it will spill everywhere from the output shaft when you angle the tranny backwards.

When you split the bell housing from the engine block you only need the rear jack on and only move the tranny back far enough so you can undo the 4 bolts holding the torque converter to the flex plate. Once you have the torque converter disconnected, just continue to slide the tranny back now being supported on the other trolley jack. Before you do this you should also disconnect the oil lines that run form the tranny to the front of the engine and then to the oil cooler in the radiator or oil cooler if you have one fitted.

Obviously a propper trtansmission jack is the safest and best way to do this so the risk is up to you.

Obviously have to get the beast up in the air, ramps and or stands. Level is nice. I made an adaptor for the TX so the trolley jack holds the TX level and won't let it fall off, which was a big help re-fitting. Undo the 4 bolts to the torque converter before moving the TX ( and then move the T/C back with the TX) through the hole left after removal of the lower "plate". Use a socket and ratchet and jam the ring gear with a large screwdriver or pinchbar, make sure you remove the dipstick tube FIRST (and then chrome it)

TX can be Blinged up a bit too:cool:
Disconnect the wiring loom (in engine bay front D/Side 3 connectors I think)
Good Luck, it's not as hard as it looks:cool:

i used two jacks aswell. i would not recommend laying anywhere near the box as you are moving or lowering it on the jacks though because its one heavy bastard and if it fell on you then you would be in a world of pain

That's why I made the adaptor for the trolley jack. You can see it in the bottom pic. Balances the TX and it won't drop or slide off. (which it did when I first pulled it out, thats why the pan was painted)

Love the adaptor you made for the trolley jack Vic, any chance of a pic of it to save some strain on what brain I have left;)

You can buy a proper transmission cradle adaptor that fits on your trolley jack from toolies for about $70
