OK reposting with PG language, apologies, was very angry when I posted.

Figured this needed its own thread because its nothing related to my original one:

Test done - Bryan is a horrible human being

Did a compression test on Cylinder 1 only as I know this is where the problem is:

Got 110psi, dropped about 2xtbsp of oil down it, got 125psi so clearly its a stuffed big end/little end/cylinder/not a lifter at all.

Time to chase up the cops on getting my stuff back as he has my perfectly good spare engine still.

Any input on either my engine is welcome.

    Further info:

Started as a small tick, sounded like lifters.
Got gradually louder, blew a bit of grey smoke under acceleration.
Was told by Bryan (prior to this mess) that it was just a bad lifter causing blowby or PCV valves.
Dipstick blew out a couple of times.
    Ticking gradually got louder.
Ticking suddenly developed into a very loud knock - no crunching noises, just suddenly got very loud and was more of a knock, lost power.
Took it to Bryan and was told collapsed lifter and dead cam.

Now, after 3 months, I was told the lifters and cam were replaced and the oil pressure was still low so it would run fine when cold but as it warmed up the pump couldnt keep up. At one point was even told "All done, just waiting for silicon to dry" before 2 days later being told "Hey still not holding oil pressure once warm"

Fired it up today and engine knock EXACTLY as it was when I took it in. From what I can gather all he has done is take off the cam covers. Was told it runs fine until engine warms up then the tapping starts returning - what actually happens is car starts, engine knocks.

My conclusion is big end bearing is shot and the whole thing is flopping around. Rings are obviously damaged as adding oil got a slight increase in compression.

    Sounds like bottom end stuffed.
Replacment crank, or regrind and oversizes bearings.
Cheaper to replace the crank and faulty piston.

I believe rebuilding your current engine is the way to go . Or buy a cheap used engine and rebuild it and swap over .

If you can do some of the work yourself you save as well .

    lol

worn rings and bearings needs rebuild . Since it hasnt blown up or been cooked it might measure up fine and just need a hone with new rings and bearings.
    maybe
