Hello everyone New zed, first new problem :zlove: Recently over the past few days, my zed has developed a strange problem. sometimes when i put my foot down, the engine cuts quite harshly at around 4000rpm (when full boost starts kicking). Then engine doesn't stop, but more forces the revs back down, then its fine again.... Other than this no other symptoms, otherwise working perfectly I'm thinking maybe AFM, but i can exceed 2500rpm without any dramas (which is what the ECU would stop if the AFM was dead, right?), only happens on hard pulls with foot to the floor
Common CAS connector plug problem and or wet/greasy AFM hotwire problem. When at idle wiggle the CAS plug and if the motor stumbles and dies that's your problem, remove, clean, retension, etc. AFM can cause similar issues with misreading air flow due to contamination of the hotwire, you'll need to spray some cleaner of some kind, someone else can let you know what it is as I've had a mental blank.
Yep, Andy's hit the nail on the head. My $10 is on the AFM hotwire. - especially with all the rain around lately and getting dirt and shit stuck on the hotwire. Give it a clean with contact cleaner (the kind that doesn't leave any lube/residue) with a cotton wool bud and you should be right.
If it happens after a carwash, or heavy rain, have a look at your afm. Otherwise, you symptoms sound EXACTLY like the ones I had when i first bought the car. Turned out to be a disconnected vacuum hose. Yep. Simple. Have a look around your engine bay.
Thanks everyone, turned out to be afm plug was wet, so cleaned it and the hot wire and now seems all good! another reason why i dislike my vented nose panel, especially in the rain!
Grease up the connector with that dialectic, dyalectic, dilectic, etc,etc grease keeps the water out.
Glad it's fixed Martin. I never had that issue. But if you want a non vented panel I have the stock one here with a zed badge on it. Could do with a new lick of paint though.
lol.. very naughty, Pex ... and a MOD ... eeekkk .. you might be named for 'picking' .... and for the now hirsute Andy, it is "DIELECTRIC", mate ....
