    Hey guys,

Was driving home last night and all of a sudden, the car starts to hesitate and the check engine light comes on. It seems to be running a bit rough, not sounding like normal so I pulled over, had a look, but nothing seemed out of place. I started the car up again and the light didn't come up again and car was back to normal.

An interesting thing to note is that my ECUtalk was indicating that it couldn't connect and just kept freezing up. With the restart, it was fine...

What the hell is going on???

just a stab in the dark, could be your ecu plug coming loose?

Could be a loose plug. Any error codes?

My VH ECU was doing the same thing, had to replace it to get it to behave... Appeared to have blown injector drivers from a lack of earths on the engine.

No error codes came up. It has been running fine since, but I'd still like to track down what's going on. I'll have a look at the ECU plug!

Ensure that the plug bolt is noice and toit and check your block and plenum earths are clean...but aside from that put it down to a random glitch...if it starts re-occuring look into it more. The ECU is a computer after all, and we all know how they can throw a fault every now and then.

I've only ever seen the check engine light in the zed come up with a poorly seated ecu plug, also ran on 5 pots.

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

What has happened is your ECU has momentarily gone into "Failsafe Mode". This occurs when there's a data connection broken from your ECU. As said before try pulling your ECU connector and refastening it. It could also be rubbing/cracking wires in your loom around the firewall area maybe?
The fact that it happened briefly once means it's intermittent and may happen again more often, or never again. lol.

This happened once to me when the ECU connector wasn't firmly connected and bolted in.
