    Hi all,

Today I returned from a 4,500km+ round trip to Allora, QLD and back in the zed. Adelaide to Sydney for two nights, Allora for two nights, back to Newcastle through the ranges for a one hour stop to visit a mate, then another two night stay in Sydney. Off to Shepparton in Vic for three nights, then back to Adelaide.

I changed oil and coolant before I left and gave the car a good look over but missed a very slow coolant leak. The first I knew of this was the ECU talk display beeping once the coolant temp reached 95C as I was climbing the hills about three hours from Allora. I let the car idle for a while with the heater on full and then shut it down and waited until the bubbling noise stopped in the radiator and very carefully released the radiator cap. I started the car again and very slowly topped the coolant up, replaced the cap and continued my journey, then fixed the leak the next day. The car has been fine since.
Many thanks to Newkleer for providing such an excellent product.

I feel pretty knackered at the moment but in all it was a wonderful trip. I met up with some wonderful people, saw some great sights on some great roads and never had one speeding fine.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Yes it's a great little thing. I have the version 1 so it does not have a buzzer but it's still the most accurate gauge you will get.

What were you doing in Allora? I got married there 10 years ago :)

I'm a member of a private file sharing hub online and rather than remain anonymous, we have the odd face to face. Normally just local ones but there's normally one big shindig per year. This year it was in Allora. We even had people come from the USA and Canada.

    Cheers,
    Dave

good stuff, just the other day (on that 35C day in sydney the other week) was the first time the temp stayed up past 97C (95C is thermo kickin, normally drops immediately after that), but it was just traffic fortunately. good to keep an eye out though and if things keep going up then you can pull over and have a look.

could have sure used it with my rb25det silvia 5 years ago, somehow developed a hole in the radiator, dumped half the coolant then started boiling the rest, steam shooting out of overflow bottle....a few months later engine developed a fairly loud noise when cold, which may have been piston or similar damage (other theory is they didnt upgrade the fuel pump from std sr20de one so it leaned out at some point)

reminder that theres a discount for aus300zx members here.
