    Hi all,

I have an issue with my keyless (remote) drivers side master lock solenoid.

Here is some photos of the offending device:

What seems to be occuring is the solenoid shaft is moving to a slightly 'off' angle and on the lock (thrust in) mode it jams and doesn't move. I can physically push it down with a small amount of force and it's fine. Seems to be a lot of 'slop' in the shaft movement side to side, which I believe shouldn't be there.

I would imagine these are fairly popular and easy to come by - any recommendations as to a replacement brand/model? Particulary one which is much quieter in operation than this one - damn noisy, but good as you can hear it lock and no need to re-check it.

As can be seen in the photos it is an Australian made solenoid by Dynamco 12V unit. (alarm uses a pulse of -12V and +12V to control the solenoid). Looks like it was manufactured in 2000, which is a fairly good service life I suppose for this sort of thing...

Note: Photos taken with my Nokia N90 phone so may not be to everyones liking:biggrin:

    Thanks.

    P.S.

Looks like my doors where once red, maybe changed out for the intrusion bars perhaps?

Judging by the condition of the rubber boot, its pretty old and probably plain worn out. Id say just look for a new one with the screw holes in the right place, a new one should be very quiet compared to the old one.

    Central Locking Actuator

    Thanks guys for your input.

Yes you are correct it is an easy job to replace, once the other 'stuff' is put aside. I should have conducted a search earlier in regards to the brand name on the actuator - they actually make alarm systems in Australia, in Perth. I had never heard of this brand before and assumed it was for the actuator only. From the limited research I found the comments on the Internet quite good for this brand:)

So I promptly contacted them this morning and ordered the new part - but get this a replacement is $70 delivered by courier, CRAP. Too late as I'd already ordered the sucker:( As when I ordered the price was wholesale and they had to get RRP for me on a later phone call. Then I read your post in regards to other suppliers and yep about $10 would get a replacement BASH:bash: my own head.

I suppose if I get another seven years service then that's not so bad...

    Cheers, Kaz.
