    Hi All,

Well Black Baz wanted to know how we went at Oran Park, and aside from the usual "that's racing" bit's and pieces to fix the Drift Z ran perfectly all weekend, which was fantastic!

A huge well done must go to the boy's at Sureflo, Greg of course for footing the bill of the Turbo Upgrade (Saber helped out with supplying a blow off valve and intercooler) and of course Al, who preps the car between rounds and was tasked to fit a single turbo to the V8, an awesome job to say the least... and an AWESOME result... only 505hp in 5th gear. (4th gear spun on the dyno when boost kicked in :))

Also a HUGE thank you to Wokkie, who travels around and gets yelled at all weekend, but still backs up next round... and I think is keen to be involved in next season! I also have to thank Mary for being so understanding and lending him to us for the weekend's.

Of course a lot of the behind the scens action, and in fact the weekend would fall apart without Caz and her connections through her business Caz Racing. Thanks again Caz, you really are a 300ZX nut and I hope you'll come play again next year.

We enjoyed the support of Marathon tyres for the first time this year, and a big thank you for Mick, Mal and the very friendly team at Marathon tyres for supporting us with a huge stack of Hankook ventus tyres for us to nuke on the back of the Drift Z. I hope that it is the beginning of a long relationship that can take Hankook and Marathon to the top of the tyre war over the next few years.

We also had the support of long time sponsors and friends, Textralia Performance clutches, Pete and the boys supplying not only the best clutch in the business, but backing the car in many mechanical ways, and Sam's Performance keeping the engine tuned.

United Oils also joined our cause this year and there support was a great help, as well as Craig's Automatic Transmissions, who know a thing or two about manual ones too!

Also, Thanks must go to RDA for helping us get to Tasmania, I hope they will come and play again next year.

With out these people, we don't go racing!

The weekend was going very well all weekend, and by qualifying we were feeling confident of a good qualifying result, my first pass was reasonable, but could be improved on, by 45 mins into the hour and 15min session we had tweaked the car and adjusted some tyre pressures and were running hot and consistent. A big off halted proceedings and at the same time Drift Australia announced that qualifying would be cut short by 15 mins, finishing the day 15 mins earlier than originally scheduled. We got back out on track, but would be sent back in before we all could complete a second qualifying lap.

Sunday started well, but I completely messed up my one Sunday lap and as a result drew Robbie Bolger in the round of 32. This is a tough assignment in anybody's term and Robbie went on to make the top 8. It was another close battle, and I really think it was closer than the 12-8 score reflects, but that is drifting.

We finished the season in 23rd position, and are focussing on next season. Hope to see you all out there again, with luck I'll remember some more names next season. If any of you know of anyone that would like to get involved or would like to get involved yourselves then please let us know.

    Stay Sidewayz Kidz,

    Dan.

P.S. The next apperence of the Drift Z will be on the Drag Strip at Eastern Creek on Wednesday 29th of October, and I won't be the only driver this time round! I think a case of beer to the quickest pass in her sounds fair ;)

    Awesome weekend :)

Great weekend to finish the DA year off :)

We had media & sponsor rides in the DriftZ on the Friday and 11 lucky people got to experience the thrill of the DriftZ full noise and sideways on the fast Oran park South Circuit.

I was lucky enough to jump in the Monaro with Robbie Bolger at the end of the day, wow, what a car that is . Just superb. The very same car that competed in the USA last year. The power, the transitions and that gearbox!!

Drawing Robbie for the first battle was damn unlucky but boy did it show us just how far we have come. They were so close and fast! Dan and RB make a very good looking couple! lol And the sound of those 2 x V8's and our Turbo's external wastegate & Bov was sooo sweet.

Robbie bet me $1k that we'd kill the DriftZ with the turbo by the days end, 'Pissy little Datsun' he calls her(in his strong Irish accent). I have money to collect :)

The top 2 places from this competition Leyton Fine and Luke Fink have earned the right to compete for Australia in California this November. These 2 young guys are such skilled Aussie drifters and I have no doubt they will do us all proud in the USA.

So now its time to work on DriftZ Sponsorship for 09 DA, looks like the first round will be in WA :)

But first its Drags WSID 29/10/08.

Oh and she'll be at Nissan Nationals, Warwick next Easter with one of our favorite long time Zedders(well ex Zedder now) behind the wheel.:biggrin:

P.S. The next apperence of the Drift Z will be on the Drag Strip at Eastern Creek on Wednesday 29th of October, and I won't be the only driver this time round! I think a case of beer to the quickest pass in her sounds fair ;)

Definitely sounds fair Dan! She is going to be a handful at the strip :zlove::zlove:

Seems the DriftZ is certainly going much better and harder... well done to all!! (Probably go even better with that nice black rear wing somebody donated...!!!:D:D
All I wanna know is when does the good luck come...?? Bloody hell, that thing of Bolger's is self-propagating - it just keeps producing more and more horsepower!! And to draw him first-up is a real BIG ask...!! Well done, Dan, for such a relatively close result... seems to me the Big Name driver usually seems to score a few freebie points extra for some reason...
Never mind, I'm sure the Blue Beast must sound and run awesome... annoyed I was not able to take up Caz's very kind invitation to the final round, but thank you anyway, Caz... it's the thought, etc!!:D
Will certainly try to join the cheer squad next up...

We are hearing you there Mike, just one of those seasons mate, motor sport is like that. And thanks for your support throughout the year.

I must admit that somtimes I just sit in the car and wonder, what will I have to do today to try and impress the judges??? With all the bad luck this season, next year we should be right... in fact we should be good for 5 years... lol.
