Ok here is the crappy story..

I have a NA 300 & it wouldn't start one morning, charged the battery went to work and battery Dead again. Called the RAA as i was now @ work and didn't have a battery charger handy. He jump started me and determined that I have some sort of electrical problem..

I took the car to my local auto electrician, who said my alternator was stuffed no probs..

Get the bill for $665 for a new Alternator inc labor.

What the hell??? Have any of your guys had your alternator replaced with a new one???

depends how much he charged you for labour. he prob charged you about 350-450 for the alternator rebuild and the rest labour to take out and replace....

edit: p.s if u are complaining about the charge maybe you should have removed it urself and taken it to an auto elec for a rebuild only and reinstalled it urself :)

Price up a new one and you'll be happier with the rebuilt ones cost :D

The alternator is a brand new one..

Apparently he could not find one for the 300zx.. so he got one designed for a Nissan 4x4 that fits, with slightly higher amperage than the stock 300 ones...

I think that price sounds reasonable. I woulnt be complaining about that at all..

    New alternator and all.

Brand newy 300ZX one is something stupid like $2k. Changing it is a prick of a job, not fun at all.

Definately not for those who don't work on Z's all day. Would've taken him a while to figure it out.
