didnt think there were any

I was under the impression that only 16" minimum will clear the brakes, but maybe thats just for the front, the rear calipers are a bit smaller. The stud pattern is the same for Falcons, maybe you know someone you can borrow a wheel from to test fit?

Anything from the Ford camp Nathan

Anything with a 114.3PCD stud spacing actually. For example I fitted my XW Fairmont mags to my Zed and the rears weren't a problem, but the front calipers wouldn't clear because of the offset being 0.Supra's, even bloody new Camry's are same offset, hell my current 18's came off a Camry! The 0 offset will push the tire out towards the guard lip if not past it so look for something off maybe a front wheel drive or run your suspension wound right up (if you have coilovers)

You'll want some width then and I'm guessing

your going with 8" slicks then?Try a wrecker or even see if you can get some of those mags you have now in a 15 or 16" sizing. A 16" mag would be more than adequate for what you want to do Nathan, and the original Zed mags will actaually come in handy. MT slicks come in 16" too as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong. If you go too small in diameter for you rears they can push the fronts causing slaloming which you DO NOT want at 160k's/hour+, trust me. Go with the 16" slick, and it will be more controllable, and give you better times.

Egg ....

Go for...

...16's and something like a Nitto low profile semi slick :) MT drag slicks have a high profile usually which defeats the purpose of running smaller rims.
Go Nitto and it's classified as 'street trim' which has a lot more credibility, Nathan. :)

Ya gotta go to the drags with Convo-Pro's ....

Actually I was quite surprised at the dearth of 16" drag related wheels and tyres available for a specific drag race intention - the vast majority is 15". Guess the sidewall height is required.

But I would love to see a Z with these on board, bigs'n'littles of course! Only available in 15" though, and with imperial bolt circles. Have to work out what 114.3mm is in inches and see if there is a direct equivalent :D.[image]http://www.vpw.com.au/images/CONVO.JPG[/image]

On the tyre side, perhaps a 10" or 10½" MT ET Drag slick on a 15×9" rim? If you can find the wheels, MT do a Sportsman Pro 26" tall by 9½" wide for a 16" rim.

The above information was found at Victorian Performance Wholesale, in WA try Chris Mills Performance in Welshpool.

The guy who sells MTs in aus says no

slicks are sold that fit a 16" rim. Must be 15" which I think is strange. I will look at nittos but hear they dont grip as well.

Mickey Thompson do a Sportsman Pro in 16" >>

with a height of 26", 9½" wide, probably suitable on an 8 or 9 inch rim. Not a pure drag slick , but a "streetable" slick similar to a Nitto I guess. If a real drag slick is required, 15" is the upper limit on wheel diameter.

Egg ....

Not strange....

Drag slicks have very high profiles so small rims needed.
Sidewall will twist and absorb energy rather then break traction and even expand diameter at speeds to some degree as well.
Nitto's are good... need a lil heat before you launch... and you can drive to the track! And even claim the run for HPI on street tyres. :)

I use 16" retreads....

225/50/16 soft compound retreads, DOT approved. Run easy 1.8 sec 60', mate has run 1.5sec 60' on 265/14'sCost is only $150 each, and they work really well and willowbank has no problems with us using them. Guy who makes them claims to have had no failures.May be an alternative......Mat

I searched on nittos...

and really didnt find that many people impressed with them Egg. Im thinking now of MT ET Streets which are a semi slick and do come in a 16". Now I just need some shitty rims.

From memory......>>

Ford rims from AU onwards have the right offset to suit the Zed. You shouldn't have too much problem finding a wide selection of those, although your best option might be to buy a pair of stock wheels cheap and get them widened to suit your needs. That shouldn't cost much more then buying some ugly factory mags that may be hard to find in pairs.

if your looking at nittos, why not get >

some rcomps? there a lot easier to get hold off and im guessing cheaper..... although in saying that, i dont know of many cars using rcomps for drag racing....plus, the rcomps will come in handy if u decide to do any circuit work.
