I am looking for another gearbox for my TT, there are heaps of NA boxes around, just wondered what the difference is. Also same question for the Diff. Dave
Search next time... Diff is completely different. 4.03:1 vs 3.6:1. Won't just bolt in, completely different Gearbox is practically the same. Starter needs to be spaced 3mm out, internals are practically the same. It will bolt up fine.
If you want the higher ratio of the NA diff for faster acceleration you buy the whole subframe and driveshaft to match your gearbox (manual or auto) and just bolt it in
i was going to post this earlier aswell so the internals are the identical? the TT isnt any stronger than the na?? because i dont know whether to sell the TT box and use the Na on the TT engine, or keep the TT box
Internals aren't identical. Different part numbers on the intermediate shaft and a gear or two IIRC. Fleet had a NA g'box on his race car and it held up fine. I'd use whichever gearbox is in better condition, i.e. doesn't crunch or whine. Both NA's and TT's eat synchro's on 4th.
NA and TT are identical other than the NA bell housing is slightly smaller. It just needs to clearance inside the bell housing a bit where the bulges are for bell housing bolts moulded in, and hits the ring gear. I had NA box in The Slot Car for years. Handled 10.70 139.67mph no probs.
ok, sweet, yeah so only difference being the yoke at the rear? and the clearance for the flywheel which you can grind away anyway? thanks for that
