Hey it just occured to me that I might be in a bit of trouble I just recently bought a greddy emanage and a greddy profec E0-1. Im looking to getting installed and tuned very soon but I had a failed det sensor in my car so I just bypassed it. Is a det sensor required to tune the car??? If I have to replace it I will just do the gearbox method of replacment.

    nope

I had my car dyno tuned with a faulty det sensor.

The tuner said he wouldn't not be able to give me 100% of what I could get, as he would have to play it safe, so that's the compromise.

My tuner also had other gear he could use to listen for pinging, but what he told me is that normally he jacks into the det sensor plug with some type of amplifier and headphone setup and while tuning and making runs he is listing for pinging.

I had another re-tune done, and this time I had a det sensor in the relocated rear plenum location, plus other mods, and he said he was able to hear pining though that location before you could hear it normally, but obliviously its not as sensitive up there as it would be in the stock location, but it does work.
