    haha what a shithouse day!!
broke up with my g/f last night and then this morning driving to uni, turned onto warrigal rd at the end of south rd and about 4 or 5 TMU cars were stopping traffic for RBT's. fair enough, i rolled through without a hitch then just as i was about to pull out this kent of an officer decided to signal out to the guy testing me to pull over so he could go over the car. fair enough again.

so i sat and waited and waited and waited. then after 5 mins he struts over and begins going over it with a fine toothed comb. 20 minutes later, and after trying to convince me that my own car was a TT and not an NA, he decided to slap a minor defect on me for the following things:
Bald tires *cough*bullshit*cough* not even close to wear marker
Small McDonalds fluffy toy hanging from rear vision mirror
Amp power cable in engine bay wasn't secured every 100mm, even though i had every 150mm AND ADR's specify every 300mm
And my sub box not secured enough even tho as you will all know when the boot hatch is closed, it can chock a box very very firmly without any movement.

so im a little pissed off  7 days to clear it... already got tires this avo.
does anyone know if i have to make an appointment at Vic roads or can i just roll up there and get them to clear it on the spot?

Yeah that sucks dude, they can be real bastards when they feel the need.
Don't know how the Vic road people opperate, but when I got defected in adelaide, I made a booking for the earliest possible time(like 4 weeks away), then just went there really early the next day and waited and hoped someone forgot to wake up and go down. Just give them a call and they tell ya what the deal is.
    Goodluck man.

AHHH to bad man i fell your pain.
just last week was driving through city (i live in brisbane). When i seen the disco lights falsh behind me so i pulled over an officer told me to follow me to a defect station. So i did an once i got there was slapped with the following defects:
1: Car height under 100mm my lowest point was 50mm cause my cat cover fell down( i didn't know)
2: Oil under the car must be cleand off(Spilled excess from oil change)
3: Rear number plate not visible from 45 degrees (stock rear bar)
    4: Battery not secrured properly.
    SO yeah not kool.

In qld you can just drive down to the cop shop and they will have a look over it unless they have givin you a certin time date to be their. So i am sure you should be able to drive down an they will clear it then an there. Good luck.

You just have to turn up to the vicroads office and show you have fixed the defect items.

I dont think you even need an appointment.

If the tyres are good leave them. Take the Mcdonalds thing off the mirror and pull your sub box out the boot.

    Get on with life.

Unless they put it off the road, this isnt much of a problem besides a bit of time. You wouldnt have gotten fined in any case.

I have been through this 4 times with my sons POS exa turbo. Its become a joke.

I also have a loose sub

in the boot, using only the straps to hold it down... Anyone know of a good way to 'secure' it in current form (inside box) so might avoid defect? Just wouldn't want to start screwing into the sub box without asking others what they've done successfully (or unsuccessfully!)

Btw, sorry to hear about the defects man. I've got the loud exhaust, baldish tyres (inner wear from camber), shit front brakes, oil leaks and loose sub and haven't been defected since I got her in June 05.

Everything above being fixed in next month (apart from loose sub, unless suggestions come my way!), so hopefully will stay clear of the cops until then...
