I know it's somewhat short notice!
Tassuperkart (Evan) was meant to post this a while back.

Looking to shake things up a little.

    For Hobart area
Departure 8:30 @ mures car park
A cruise up the east coast switching inland up elephant pass with some nice twisties and beatiful scenery. Stopping at Mt Elephant for some of the best pancakes the state has to offer.
    Eta 12 ish

Return trip can be decided at the venue
Either shoot across Fingal valley and drone along the highway
Back down the coast via St Mary's pass
Or any other myriad of directions we could take.

Prob another 3 hour return trip :D

    For Launceston and northern areas.
If your keen on some tasty pancakes for lunch then come join us.
Your options as you know would be the coast via sideling, over Ben Lomond perhaps. Although it gravel and most likely mooshy from wet snow. The highwy or any other route you want.
You'll be looking at about a 6 hour drive too, bet you'll love every second of it!

If your keen to come awesome.
Let us know so we can co-ordinate something.

We don't need to drive crazy if you don't want but it's going to be a lot more interesting than driving up the highway. Not to mention the tasty reward at the mid point
    :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I believe the Z32 should be driven. And we are blessed to have some of the nicest roads in Australia.
Ideas on next cruise would be welcome. I'm going to suggest the pub at the Great Lake. :D

    Righto you motley crew..

Surely out've 30+ Zed owners scattered around the state we can get more than 3 together at once!

I'm looking forward to a nice cruise along the coast.

Tell me if I'm wrong but a 6 hour return drive isn't too excessive is it?

There isn't 30 active local members on the forum, that is for sure. That is why I created the facebook group to try and get a larger gathering when events are organised. The times I organised a cruise on the forum (many years ago), I PM'd every local member, as they just don't visit here.

We really needed more notice time.

Evan was going to post this nearly 2 months ago, I got sick of him saying he was going to.

In the mean time, think of some cool venues with a nice drive between.

Tassie isn't really that big and I bet there are awesome little places stashed away everywhere.

    2 months ago?? Bollocks.
We only really decided on anything last time i was over there and that wasnt 2 months ago. More like a few weeks.
I dont think it matters how much notice you give people.
They either go or they dont. Couple of weeks notice for a satdee mornin drive is plenty. Not like its an overnighter or interstater.

Those who are keen will go on a couple of days notice.

****. That looks like a great drive. Makes me want to take time off and come with.

You'll be near the much anticipated pancakes on Monday, might be worth your while convincing the crew on a ~ 5km further drive from the pub for dinner or breakfast, and its on your way.

Unsure if you've been down here before but you will love the west coast. And the drive down the east one, although the roads aren't as well maintained..

Please tell me your doing this in your Zed?

    Cos that would be awesome.

Oh.. You may have to detour as well last winter the western explorer was washed away, it wouldn't add too long to your trip to detour.
Hopefully they've fixed it by now.

Have a good trip man, little bit jealous.

    Event Wrap Up

    What a day.

As expected mother nature laid out the good weather for us, not too hot not too cold, plenty of sun and dry tracks.

The line up consisted of myself and tassuperkart for a nice 6 hour hike up into the hillside to sample some tasty pastry like treats. :D

We kicked off at 9 from Sorell (on the way and closer to my digs) sat about drinking coffee and talking jive until a quarter past ten (or close enough too).
We set out along the long and winding road, when suddenly there shined a shiny demon.... Hang on, wrong song... lmao

Smashed it up through the east coast which is a nicely windy road setting a pretty consistent speed between 100-110, coming into the uphill twisties in 5th gear my tt struggled and was forced to hit 4th and 3rd. by this time E in his NA pace maker was long gone (out of walkie talkie range as i'm screaming for him to slow the f down... ...) 30 odd years of track racing makes him a little hard to keep up with.
caught a few holiday makers and general sunday drivers and as expected they posed zero problems getting past them, stumbled upon a couple of camper vans being towed along a rather twisty section of road at a rather respectable pace, if they weren't getting into the dirt around the corners and looking like they'd jack knife any second we could have comfortably sat behind them.. ..
Anyway, we arrived at Mount elephant pancakes at around twenty to 1 (2.4 ish hour drive) kicked about for a little while and set about ordering a well deserved treat, i went for the sweet option with E hitting the savory. Met a nice young fella and his girl in his 180sx, nice little ride and we could hear him giving it a squirt through the hillside prior to his arrival. Sat there talking with him for a good half hour and set out on our way back.
We decided a cruise through the fingal valley and on the way to Campbeltown was in order so off we went.
I had E have a smash in my zed for a bit so he drove it from St Mary's to Avoca, I had him investigate my ride comfort issues and give it a good thrashing to see how it actually fares in comparison and condition. I think he was impressed and i say driving E's zed (the first NA i've driven) i was impressed as well. the NA does perform well and i think it deserves more credit than it is given. Plus the Ride in E's Zed is better than my stock scooby doo... Anyway i digress.
We pulled into Campbeltown and hit some fuel up and a drink. and decided we would cross to the east coast again and enjoy the cruise home.
Smashed it through lake leak road, a rather tidy set of long and short twists and proceeded to smash it back down the coast towards the goal posts.
a few interesting things happening on the way back, a pos ford falcon we caught doing 90km.h decided he wanted to play a little.. he was way too break happy and we ending up cleaning him up quick smart. he really had no hope at all but kudos for trying.
I finally got pulled over in the Zed and breatho'd. The cop was super nice and a little flabbergasted when i explained we had just driven 400 odd km's for pancakes, obv we didn't blow anything and the cop was impressed he hadn't heard any reports of a black and white hotted up cars going mental on the coast so he bid us a safe remainder of our journey and let us know there were highway patrols out along our path.. nice policeman indeed.
Has a road trail catch us on a stretch of uphill twisties, he was really really enjoying his ride, tried to get ahead of him but i had no chance so i let him get past.. far out he was going hard, would've been a beautiful day for a ride too. Anyway not too much drama for the remainder, overtook the pos falcon again and stopped at Sorell.
10/10 for the day, would have been made even better by more people involved (but we wouldn't have had enough walkie talkies)
Great Company, Great Roads, Great Weather and Great Food.
    Total time 8am - 6:15pm for me.
the drive 454km as shown on the map below and just over 3/4 of a tank of fuel. Almost took of and did it again today cos it was soo good.

E has proposed a trip to Strathgordon for a run so keep posted for that, nice and twisty not as far away, BBQ lunch and return cruise.

I will also be looking at doing a cruise once a month. i enjoy driving my zed and id enjoy it alot more if we can get people involved in cruise events. keep your eyes peeled for more.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

    Yup.
cant add too much more to Robs missive!!
Ive only ever driven one other TT zed, around a race track and that one had tyres made of wood and buggered rear shocks so could really get a good impression but the TTof Robs is sure a nice thing.
i think a little massaging of the rear suspension to tie it down a little better on the bumpy shit and a capable weopon it is!!!!
Altho prolly similar weight, it pullsquite differently differently to my Ute Of Death. I do have a big single tho so it was nice to get a feel for the TT-zed.

I do salute the Triabunna cop tho who was thoroughly decent after wheeling us and doing a bretho, if not friendly and indeed he wished us well and advised us of his colleagues marauding further along the journey home so... yeah, cheers fella!!
