Ihave to be the unluckiest Z driver in the Country. Since picking up the car from the crash repairer for a minor paint damage job, not my fault. I have crashed twice and managed a total of less than 5 km.

However I have identified the problem.

    I am not Japanese!:(

I am 1.9m tall and my eyeline is 5mm higher than the bottom of the mirror with the seat fully back and down.

When approaching the head of a T junction I cannot see a car waiting to turn right into my road. I cannot see anything on the apex of the road from 30 to 55 degrees to my left.

Apart from selling the car the only solution I can see is to raise the mirror by 35 to 40mm.

How do you get it off. The service manual is no help.

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do?

Try to fit a wide angle mirror to see if it will fix the prob

Otherwise get a new one that you can stick on the windscreen

To get it off.Remove the plastic cover and unscrew the screw that hold your mirror:LOL:Good luck:thumbsup:

You could remove the lid and sit on a pillow !

I really think the pillow crack is uncalled for ..

Obviously at 190Cm tall he can pop the top and raise the seat to full height ...

I really did not want to keep it going but just could not resist.....:p:wacko:

But on the serious side.... it used to be the law that if you had LH and RH external mirrors you could entirely BLACK OUT the rear window (This was in my Panel Van days mid 80's) .... if that is still the case just remove the mirror and use the external ones only.....

check with your local Transport dept.

    Thanks Guys!

    I know I deserve the joshing :(

How do you get the cover off to get at the screws? Does it just prise off? I do not want to damage anything if I can help it.

I was not aware that you could get a mirror that sticks to the window. That sounds like a good idea I will see what I can find.

I would rather not have to rely on the outside mirrors.
I like to be aware of everything around me and I would have to move my head a lot.

    Thanks all for the help!

As for Tazzie I spend an hour a day, every day in the gym to maintain a weight of 95kg.:p

    I wouldn`t have a clue whist

a movmented fight with my girlfriend in the car, the whole thing fell on my head as I was driving

Nothing was broken so I guess that you can just prise off.
You can get a "wide angle" that can be fix to the inside mirror, they are big but efficient maybe that could help.

    Cheers,
    Olivier.;)

I also have the same problem

at 187cm and seat back and down i find myself moving around the car for better views as i have blind spots. Just have to get used to being a little more careful and double checking.

Look around the mirror, it's a blind spot for you

take it into account when you are driving

    You are right

I did not realise I had a problem until this second prang. The first time I took the car straight back to the crash repairer. This time I took it home and have had a chance to study what happened.

I did not realise I had a blind spot. In normal driving it is not a problem. Only in this one situation does the geometry and timing make a hazard.

I know it is a cliche but one seconds inattention caused both these accidents. I would have to remember to look around the mirror EVERY time I turned at a T junction.

The problem does not seem to me to be the width of the mirror so much as the height. It needs to be mounted higher by 40mm and it could be thinner. I am wondering if I can bend the attachment arm, hence I want to get it off. Sticking a mirror on the window is another option.

  18. CHILI

    CHILI Indestructable Target

    I'm 1.84 mtrs tall>

and I don't have any problem seeing forward whilst driving. There are quite a few Zed owners that are taller than me, and as far as I'm aware, they don't find themselves bouncing off the scenery. You could lower the seat rails (talk to IB in Canberra, he did this recently). Other than that, all I can suggest is that you duck your head a bit when your vision is restricted.:unsure:

Yeah I'm the exact same height as Chili...

and have no problems at all. Not sure how much of a problem an extra 6cm would be, you say you have the sear right back and down, how about the lean of the seat? put that right back and it should drop you even more.

Apart from that all I have to say is that accident prone people have lower iq's...
