Had my zx about a month and been lurking around the forum/tech section for about the same time. Will get some pics up eventually, of the car at least. Pics of me are nowhere as exciting as ^MiA^ !!

    1. It wasn?t until I went to run the ?auto trans self diagnosis? that I realised the transmission warning light needs replaced lol. Does this require removal of the instrument cluster? ( wanted to say engine :D ) Was thinking maybe it could be accessed from below but had a quick look and it didn?t seem as though this was the case.

    2. I?ve ordered some new o2?s and stuff from ttzed.com anyone know what their average turnaround is? ( Don?t want to max out my credit card on fuel while I wait for the order to process hahahah)

    3. I have a fibreglass bomex front bar with a couple of cracks either side of centre on the lower skirt and a lot of stone chips. A local repair place quoted me $600 to send it off to be repaired and then resprayed. Does this sound reasonable to you guys?

    4. HICAS warning light comes on at highway use.
Car needs a wheel alignment if it makes a difference ( looking for somewhere local in Hervey Bay I can just drive up their ramps without removing the front bar. Maybe scump knows of one.)
Power steering fluid is at the right level but I read somewhere someone fills theirs to almost full. Will probably remove it altogether in time, but just trying to nut out the little problems.
Maybe replace trans warning light with this one? :p

    Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to Aus300zx,

I have used TTZ many times & their turn around is usually 1-2 weeks. You should also try Caz1 site http://www.cazracing.com.au she is a member & one of the nicest people i've meet.......... $600 sounds fair for repairs to your front bar.

    Have fun with your Zed:biggrin:

Yeah, I think you do have to remove the cluster to get to the Auto Warning Light. It's not too hard, specially after the 5th time

$600 for repairing the front bar sounds about right, there will be a bit of fibreglassing, taing it off, putting it back on, painting etc. Adds up quick

Not sure about the HICAS sillyness, is the fluid full?

My HICAS light stayed on until I filled mine to full. Give it a try, won't hurt any.

Yeah! You can almost see the tongues hanging out! (No offense, Maria, and welcome)
You're right, the instrument cluster does need to come off to replace a globe... it is quite simple, though, Get down and look up (with a torch) at the underside of the cluster shroud, and you will see the two screw which need to be removed to take off the shroud, which will then expose the screws you need to remove to take out the instrument cluster ("Search" is also your very friendly neighbourhood guy for this issue... it's been covered many times)

If you are not happy with the service from TTZed, PM "Blondie", who runs the show!

For a similar price, you can get urethane front bars, OEM and aftermarket, which are almost indestructable!

First reaction was to tell you to look at the P/S fluid level (low level is the most common cause of the Hicas warning light coming on). If the fluid level is OK, you may have a problem elsewhere... P/S-pump function, line blockage, Hicas system itself faulty... I have an Aus-Spec NA without Hicas, so I can't really help you here. Search!

If your front bar is too low to get onto the ramps without scraping, get the service people to place some wood blocks(or similar) in front of the front wheels, and then you can get onto the hoist easily... alignment should not make a difference to the way the Hicas system functions

Huh! Not sure what you mean by this!

    Thanks for any help.[/QUOTE]

He meant he might just replace the transmission light (which isn't working) with the HICAS light (which is working but he can't find anything wrong). Out of sight out of mind hahaha

Either way , the dash cluster has to come off!

Yeh I remember reading one of the members here just removed the hicas warning bulb for a similar situation lol.

    Thanks to all

Just removing the light (globe) doesn't change the situation... you still have a problem!

I think they only remove the HICAS bulb after removing the HICAS lol. Otherwise there is probably something worth looking into.

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

Your steering wheel may not be installed at exactly the right place. If it is fitted 1 spline out relative to the steering sensor, HICAS will eventually determine that you coudn't possibly be driving on a never ending bend, and disble the system, resulting in the liht coming on only after driving on a long straight or highway use.

This can be determined with a CONSULT diagnostic check on the HICAS system.
