    Hi guys

Mt TT's 5 speed manual is starting to get a little crunchy. If an oil change doesnt fix the issue, I was wondering what a rebuild would cost me, ballpark. Its a '93 box if that makes any difference, and would it be cheaper just to get a new box?

    Cheers

Considering the cost of a new (late model) gearbox you are wasting your money on a rebuild... and yes I have had a gearbox rebuilt.

Get a quote on a new box from from www.conceptzperformance.com

    I've just looked at that

I've just had an e-mail from Coz today

    Gearbox is $1,769.95
    Shipping is $395

These are US prices, but with the Aus dollar the way it is, there's no real difference. Bear in mind, there'll be some duty and GST to pay as well.

    Hope this helps

You will easily go over the new price on a rebuild if new synchros are required which is extremely likely.

What exactly does a $1300 gearbox rebuild entail rollin? And are there any advantages of going for a new box over rebuilt? I've heard the us guys complaining about some of the later model boxes...

I'm trying to find out right now. When I import stock from the states, it seems to be a lucky dip as to what I pay duty and GST on. I have my contact at DHL working on it.

    Cheers

just get a second hand box out of a wreck dude. plenty around... if your crunching gears firstly change your oil, and second remove any short shifters that you may or may not have
