Conzult reading question?

Yesterday Rodd kindly brought his conzult to help diagnose an erratic reving problem. He discovered the right O2 sensor was going crazy and reading 2.55v and then off the scale. The lap top was saying too rich. We therefore suspected sticking or faulty injectors. All the other functions were ok, except he discovered my electric cooling fan wasn't working. Before I start pulling the Plenium off etc. is our diagnosis valid or could there be something we missed. I'd hate to be pulling those barely visible little buggers out for nothing!

    Did you check..>>

the timing before you used Conzult? If the timing is not checked at 15 degrees btdc then it's pointless even connecting Conzult.Cheers

    Well...>>

If timing is at 15btdc, the CAS is centred, idle is at 750rpm, coolant is at 80C, and TPS is about 0.45V, ECU code is at 55 and A/C is off then perhaps one or both O2 sensors are stuffed. Try disconnecting both sensors and going for a long run around the block before considering drastic action like pulling the plenum and removing injectors.

  5. O2 sensor is your problem

Absolute maximum value should be 1volt, anything higher and the O2 sensor needs to be replaced.
It has nothing to do with your injectors.-Eric

Eric would a stuffed 02 cause

the revs to vary by as much as 1500 rpm with no load. If I hold the pedal at 2000rpm it suddenly jumps to 3000-3500 holds for a while then slips back to 2000-a rough 2000. I have new sensors-courtesy of David in a recent group buy.
