Do these Constant Tension Clamps seem okay for Silicone hoses?

Currently Im looking at replacing the PITA Spring clamps on my sisters Astra with all the rubber rad hoses.. So I figured these are the best, but seems like I have to order 10 or so was thinking if these are okay for Silicone hoses (non chew up type) then cool I can use it on the 300zx as well. These dont have the open slots, just closed slots.. Not sure if these would still grate up silicone.

Or can get these type of tension clamps which seem a tiny bit more smoother on the inner band perhaps

I prefer constant tension ones as the Astra has a absolute PITA 3 way waterpump hose underneath/behind the engine that I dont want to revisit and tighten..

Not sure if T-Bolt ones that everyone gets for silicone hoses can come in constant tension variety.

Constant tension clamps are ok for silicone hose. You just have to be weary of what you're doing when tightening them. They generally cover the majority of the spline so they shouldn't cut into the silicone outer layer. It's the cheap cheap clamps that tend to grip and bite into the silicone/rubber hoses. As their spline is pressed all the way through the steel ring, unlike the one you pictured above. You can buy them individually from auto stores. Not just in packs. Shop around.

T bar clamps will work well for both cases also. They have a wider surface area, so they should seal your sisters car up perfectly fine.

Thanks Sanouske! I think I'll try and find them individually.

Wouldn't t-bolt clamps loosen up after awhile on rad hoses via hot/cold cycling since they are passive without the spring ?

Just feel less comfortable about using a clamp without a spring mechanism to maintain tension.

I know you can get T-bolt clamps with a spring on the screw

Found this interesting website explaining uses for different clamps -

All clamps have to be re-tightened......

No matter what type of clamp you use, they will ALL have to be re-tightened/tensioned (especially if using new hoses) as the rubber/silicon 'settles in'

Personally, I just don't like any form of 'worm gear' clamp. They are a poor design that belongs on your garden hose. T Bolt clamps are a stronger, more positive action that won't strip, slip or twist.
