I'm not sure if this has been posted before, I tried to search for it but couldn't find one similar. When your car has been complied, is there supposed to be a plate stamped onto the car to show that it has been complied? Also, what type of papers would be given as proof? Would they do it different in each state?
stamp is only required on the chasis if it wasnt imported under the 15 yr rule, if the car is say.. a 94 or something, then yes there would be a stamp, or if it was imported a few years ago.. if its 15 yrs or older = no stamp im sure if im wrong though, someone will correct me
There is definately a compliance plate ALV-----------------> I sent you a pic of it in the original pics I sent. Your plate is on the radiator support panel to the right of the radiator and is blue with a silver edge and approx six inches long and 2 inches high:thumbsup:
in NSW if it was imported under the 15 yrs old rule, no compliance plate needed, BUT for a first rego in Aust [ if in NSW] you need the paperwork from the NSW recognised compliancer [list on the nsw rego web site] to show that it mets the rules for its year of manufacture. This will include a report, and photographs, all done by the engineer. So if your car is 1992+ then its needs a plate. If it is 1991 and was imported before this year then you definitely need a plate. If it is 1989 and was imported before 2004, then it definitely needs a plate.
maybe the mechanic is wrong he wasn't sure but he said there should be another plate on the other side.. I showed him about the blue/silver plate but he said there should be another one.. but as i said.. he wasn't entirely sure..
I think he means VIN number which yours also has - it is a long strip of aluminum (black with silver writing) I have a pic of it (also sent to you) but can't see/remember it's location... try looking on/near the suspension towers in engine bay...
Or the compliance number firmly fixed to the body ,alumunium plate about 15 mm x 150 mm letters 10 mm high.
