I drove my Vic reg'd car up with me to Qld and i've been told it's not compliant. The rear belts are lap sash and it may not have intrusion bars. Does anyone know the approx costs???
so you've got a car thats legally vic complied... but it needs recompliancing in Qld? ... what is wrong with the country.. why can't they just ditch the whole state thing and have one government like a real country (ie ... NZ
Tell me about it. At first i didn't get it. Then i thought is spending on compliance all worth it? Of course it is. I've got type Z blood running thru my veins.
My thoughts exactly. That would take out a whole layer of tax we pay as well as making it a simpler place to live. Same govt, road rules, laws etc just removes all the confusion.
Who told you? It doesn't make sense to me. Your car should have been complied in Victoria to meet the relevant Australian Design Rules, I don't see where state comes into it
im with marklar, complience needs to be done to australian standards, and price varies on year/model of car... if it has a complience plate it should be fine... BlipMan on this website works for J-spec the import agency, he may be able to help you out.
Here's how it should be ... If your car was complied (legally) and it is a Z32, then it should NOT have lap sash belts in the rear, they should be retractable. It should also have intrusion bars in the doors. If the car is complied to Aus standards then it IS legal in Qld, or NSW or anywhere in Oz. If it is a Z32 and has non retractable lap sash belts(which I didn't know they made) with no intrusion bars, then I would seriously consider contacting the compliance company that complied it because it does not meet the requirements and has a big bodge job on it! GL
Are your belts retractable?? I forgot that in the 15 yr rule belts didn't have to be changed but I always thought that they had to be at least retractable. I may be wrong but thats what I thought.
compliance if the car is a 89 or 90 model and was brought in under the 15 year old law then for Vic they would have done intrusion bars and not seat belts. in Qld we need intrusion bars and seat belts. I had an enjirneer that was ok on rear lap belts but the one i use now i have to put in lap sash . if you need some help , drop me a PM and i will help you out.
Under the now non-existant 15 year import rule, $1200 was a good guideline for compliance. Seeing as you only need the seatbelts done, should be only a couple of hundred dollars max. Sucks that they weren't done, but you know how difficult it is for the States and Territories to agree on legislation! I'm surprised we don't still have to change trains due to different track widths when you cross a border...
thanks guys. car being picked up today by CAR-PLIANCE. I got paperwork saying what mods have been done which was ok for VicRoads but QLD needs to see the plate.
