When Caz and I ran the car on the Consult on the W/E it kept popping up no matter if it was wiped/reset (running at idle). The car seems to be running right and not detonating. Will this cause the car to run on satefy maps or the normal maps. MattB:wacko:
code 34 does not mean you are detonating.... all it means is that there is a problem in the det sensor circuitry. The ECU will see this error and try to protect the engine. So yes, if you are getting a code 34, you will be running in safety mode and be down on power. Cheers
Check tech section for articles on det sensors--> here. and here's a few more: Safety boost indicator LED Manual over-ride of safety boost
car is by no means down on power or running in safety boost, due to the after market boost controller but it will be changing maps correct! MattB
Re: Correct.......>> ahh that would explain my fuel consumption atm. I too have a Code 34 but the aftermarket Boost Controller avoids safety boost
Thanks Pete, read Marks articles, now I got to find a 1 meg ohm resistor for temp bypass,oh and find another Det sensor to put somewhere else!Any suggestions folks! Might try a big clean of the connector and the tips from the tech article first then see what happens. Is there another way of reseting the Ecu that doesnt take 30 minutes without Consult/Datascan. MattB:thumbsup:
I hope so this cars making it so thats all I got in the pocket! Might see the bank manager tomorrow for that one! Maybe have to see him for the cost of petrol for getting to Penrith to get one though! On a more serious note I found the problem and once again its due to a previous owners, incompetence. The wire to the sensor was joined with one of those squash crimp things , obviuosly they forgot its a sheilded wire in two parts. Bloody retards. Now I just got to find a detonation sensors CHEAP to put on the engine somewhere else. One the good side its going to go like the wind when that the timing and the O2 sensors are fixed. MattB
Sorted with the bypass and got a code 55! No I just have to get the timing checked. Just one little question for the day, Where do I connect the timing light on this thing to check the base timing as these things obviously dont have leads to connect to? MattB
Just open up the inductor and stick it next to the coilpacks, need to hold it there as there is nothing to clamp onto
Re: Just open up the inductor ANother suggestion Get a HT lead from super cheap, remove coilpack No. 1, use the HT lead to connect the coilpack to the spark plug, and then you have a cable to clamp your timing light to.
