Clutch slipping - time for some questions

Hi guys, spent a little bit of time scouring the forum for some answers to my clutch issues. Some of my Q's are answered; some are not.

Firstly; clutch slips in high gears but still has a reasonable amount of bite in low gears. Engine revs if I hit the pedal in high gears but little transfer of power to the wheels.

    So on to my questions.
    1. How do correctly I diagnose what is the culprit(s). (pedal adjustment vs worn clutch vs hydraulics for example).

    And then..

    2) If I am to do any work on the clutch, what else should be done at the same time - with the gearbox off. (Think maintenance not mods etc as the car is basically stock and happy to maintain that status)

    3) Cost - what should I expect to be up for eg parts and labor - dollars or hours etc

    4) Any recommendations for shops to do this - northern suburbs , Carlingford to Hornsby or Hills area.

    Thanks guys.

Assuming that your C/Slave Cyl. has adequate 'freeplay' when not in use(not partially pressing/disengaging by riding the Thrust/Throwout Bearing)then your problem is most likely a worn Clutch Plate/Pressure Plate.
If you adjust the Slave Cylinder push-rod so as to have slightly more free-play than factory settings require, and the situation remains unchanged, you can eliminate Hydraulics(which leaves only the Clutch/P.Plate combo.
If your changing the above items, you should also replace the Spigot Shaft Bearing and the Clutch Throwout/Thrust Bearing while you are there.

first is to ensure that your clutch release cylinder isnt riding due to some funky adjustment issue.
Get underneath and try to pull the release arm back towards the slave cylinder. You should be able to get some movement there.

If all is good with the release setup then it probably time for a new clutch.

Gearbox out, clutch off and flywheel off. Send flywheel off to be skimmed. I like to have the new clutch and flywheel assembly balanced while its out.
Next, change the rear main crank seal.
Change the gearbox output shaft seal.
Replace the clutch release fork pivot bolt with an upgraded item.
    Reassemble and drive on.

Gearbox out is a good opportunity to change bastard hoses and possibly det sensor if necessary although that would still be fiddly.

Agree with this man, throw in this kit while it's all out and you'll be fine. I'd opt for the upgraded chromoly items. Might as well grab either an OEM or Nismo trans mount while it'll all be out too.
