hi there i was wondering should my car be able to launch from secong gear without the clutch slipping.my car is a stage 4 tt 12psi.
was playing around the other night with a g tech and i was getting 13.40 second quarters at 185klms.that was taking off in first and i was either bogging it down or wheel spinning.my mate suggested to launch from second but the clutch was slipping and smelt very bad. :(
apart from that the clutch never slips.
i have only had the car a short time and am assuming it is a standard clutch.so does it sound like my clutch needs replacing or if it is a standard one is it to wimpy to launch in second.
    thanks...

    Standard clutches>>>

If you're at stage 4 and want to run 1/4s you're going to need a better clutch. eg I had a new standard clutch for one week, took it to Kwinana and after 5 runs it was rooted. This wasn't from 7000+rpm dumping clutch launches either, only around 3000 and not too abusive. Went back and got a 6 puck UAS one and can't speak highly enough of it. Hasn't slipped in nearly 3 years of abuse :) It's just a prick when you're in a traffic jam or the odd occasion you have to drive it up onto a truck, but worth it.Cheers,

    personally..

id upgrade it.. the only way is up!! got a nice tripple plate clutch 4 myself, n is great.. take a while 2 get used 2 but in the end if u want nice 1/4 times i think you should get 1
p.s - are you going 2 be doing anymore work 2 the engine?

Definitely need to replace the clutch...

The standard clutch simply cannot hold the power you're asking it to as Stage 4 + for any length of time. I'm in the same boat as you and will be getting the 6 puck UAS clutch aswell as the lightened flywheel as I've only heard good things about it...John :-Z
