Thought i just needed a new clutch now im not sure??

The car shudders a bit when releasing the clutch. I can ride the clutch a bit more and be pretty tentative with it and its fairly smooth then but dont like to ride it for obvious reasons.

Another issue with it, on hot days! On hot days like over 30 it will slip after driving for a reasonable period of time without fail. If i let it keep slipping it makes it hard to even accelerate if i'm not careful but otherwise no worries.

I got told shudder means pressure plate maybe...? but i read on this US site that nissan has said 90-91 tt 300zx's (mine is 91) have dodgy master cylinders ...

Is it my clutch?? my master cylinder??? or both???

Need some help please Z guru's!!

If it's slipping then it is stuffed.

If you have trouble changing gears or getting into first then it is more likely to be a master/slave issue/

      :(
    "1991 Nissan 300zx
    Clutch Kit
    Brand: Exedy

NSC909; NSD053A; BRG810. Due to the design of the release system for the clutch on this vehicle, the flywheel should NEVER be machined. If in doubt about the condition of the flywheel, DO NOT resurface it, but REPLACE it with a new unit! There have also been reports of clutch slippage on some 90-91 300ZX Turbo models. Nissan has issued a service bulletin that recommends replacing the clutch master cylinder (30610-40P03, available from us) and the clutch pedal return spring (46585-30P16, available from your Nissan dealer) BEFORE blaming the clutch assembly for this slippage."

This was from a US parts site, this is what made me doubtful..???
Until i saw this i just thought the clutch was stuffed.. Only has trouble with first when cold.. and reverse sometimes wont go in until i slowly start to release the clutch!! weird!!

Also as you can see it says dont machine the flywheel?? whats the go guys?? do you need to? or is it a big no no as the site states???

This is the first that I have heard of this problem  I had my flywheel machined and it still works fine. The TT's do have a stepped flywheel, but I don't see an issue with getting them machined.

I've never heard of that either and I know of people who have resurfaced the stock TT flywheel. I'm not sure how reliable a website that sells clutches would be regarding that sort of information, of course they want you to buy a new one.

hmm my clutch is slipping too.

Sorry dont want to steal the thread but i have a similar prob so thought i'd add...
i installed an EBC on saturday and now run up to 14 psi :D However it seems my clutch is slipping when the boost hits hard in the high rev range :( I had also experienced clutch slipping before increasing boost, but guess it will be more of a problem now. My gear shifts are quite hard esp to get back into first. My car was converted from auto to manual at the start of the year using an N/A box in my TT car. the clutch is an Exedy heavy duty to suit N/A fly etc. I am not sure what year model my clutch master cyl is taken from... is there a way to find out?? I am using the UAS slave cyl with the single braided fluid line running straight from the master to slave. should i try bleeding the clutch fluid.. would that help?? Or is it more likely that i just need a tougher clutch?
