    Hi all.

Noticed driving today my clock display going feint (not dim). Seemed to fix up with some driving, but seems to happen when idling for a while.

    Any ideas?

    Alternator?

    Thanks.

    Simon.

What's the difference between feint and dim?

Is your charge light on the dash on? I'd be guessing a dodgy earth or connection, or the actual clock.

Is there a proper fix for the clocks ?

I have 2 dud ones. There is an article on the US clocks, how to change some resistors, but they are different to Jap spec ones.

Surely, there must be some clocks of the right size that can be made to fit somewhere if the crappy Nissan ones can't be fixed.

I thought that they'd be the same, seems a bit weird that Nissan would make 2 different clocks. I pulled one of mine apart and it looked similar to the tech article (going off memory here, could be completely wrong :p )

    Thanks guys.

Didn't notice the charge light on.

Dim is turning headlights on and it dims.
Feint is with lights off and it goes dull - virtually off at the edges. Then it comes back with driving (hence the engine revs - more charge - alternator / battery direction...)

Normally the clock's fine. Could just be looooong periods of idle (tunnel being closed kinda stuffs up travel times....).

Use a headunit as a clock.. and stick some funky gauge where the clock is? =)

    red32 You talkin' to me?

Clock display DOES dim when you turn on the headlights!
What I'm curious about is, how come you have a Zed clock that is worth looking at to tell the time? Every Zed clock that I have seen is merely a random number generator, bearing no relationship to the Sun cycle, let alone GMT!

LOL. Mine normally works just fine....

(I know it dims with headlights - I was describing what it's doing without the lights on...:) )

My stereo does have a clock (which I noticed I never even set to daylight savings time on the weekend:eek: ), I just dont use it
