look awesome man......did you by anychance steal a porshce....all these brakes, seats popping up.... any reasons you went for these instead of recaro etc? as for rear seats, the actualy seats them selves are not much weight at all, remove all the other stuff holding it there might be a few kilos to shed.....you wont be changing to a 2 seater to shed weight would you?
Sorry dude but unless the seat folds foward, the car is no longer a legal 2+2 and should be re-registered as a 2 seater. Thats the law like it or not But i say like it Coz now you can save even more weight by ripping out the back seat, and either extend the boot with a custom mold, or throw in a roll cage Even... how about a custom "targa top holder" space behind the front seats?
Nice Beautiful, I have always liked your zed and these will look great. Let us all know how comfortable they are after a couple of cruises
Very nice Very nice mate. they look super cool, but you do need to listen to what Chili and the others have said.
Heres a set For those that are seriously looking at getting a pair of these seats. Their is a pair on Ebay at the moment :cool2: Just remember who your bidding against though :cool2: CLICKY They look like sex in a seat, but not a seat you could have sex in. Love the look Ali Fate
we all aknoweldge they are nice. nothing wrong with warning about the legalities and possible cause of death to passengers. They are damn nice.... in a 2 seater , which that now legally is
Seats are in and WOW! All the money spent on suspensions parts can really be felt now. Taking corners your stuck to the car via the seats and the feeling is awesome. Also back seats will stay in, they look good back there and as for legalities - there is actually the same if not more room for rear passngers to get in and out thanks to the seats 20mm thickness. The only thing i need to get done is customise the seat adjuster to extend under the seat to the rear so that the passengers can move the seat themselves. Love the carbon fibre - now just need to trim them the same colour as before.
And this would be for the passengers you NEVER carry in the rear seat, right? A nice touch might be a small sign on the rear of each seat(something along the line of "Abandon Hope, All Ye Who Enter Here" would seem appropriate).:zlove: In what sub-section of 'WRITE YOUR OWN ADR's' can I find the relevant clause permitting this modification?:zlove:
Mate, its like everything else in life. Its only illegal if you get caught. Seeing as your in NSW I would think it was unlikely unless your doing something really stupid. I honestly dont see that many cops around here but thats just my opinion. If you do get caught, then you will be made to remove them with a defect notice. Not a big deal. However, in the very worst case scenerio, and you have an accident with someone in the back and they die, or the perhaps need to be cut out, your charges could be upgraded as you knowingly put them in danger. Going from a simple accident to a manslaughter charge or something similar is a pritty big life breaker so just keep it in mind when/if you let someone sit in the back.
hmmm thats why i said im gonna get a cutom adjuster made so that the rear passengers can move the seat back and forth all they like
what they are saying is that the seats need to roll forward, not slide back to front on rails so unless you are going to cut this seat in half, theres no way you can do it
But why would it need to roll forward, when there actually more space to get in and out now when the seat is moved all the way forward?
Ali, it's required under the ADR's for seat operation and design in 2 door, 4 seater vehicles. Even the seat mounting brackets will be illegal(because they have not passed "Crash Testing"). That's why most aftermarket items are labeled "For off-road use only", because it is just too expensive to comply with all the testing procedures to make them legal.
there maybe more space when the chair if forward. but its MUCH easier to pull a person out OVER the seat (when its leaning forward) than it is to pull them through the gap between the door and the back of the seat (when the door is upright) see crap diag i did in paint
the seat base is just foam.. maybe 1kg worth all up.. then the back rest probably about 3kg.. ever actually removed em/picked em up?
in your diagram try moving the bottom seat forward double the distance and you will get 2x the space as the first pic
imagine that the pics show it with BOTH seats being moved forward. either way, its still easier to pull someone out if the seat is leaning forward like i have shown in a 2+2 when the seat is tilted forward they are also able to be pushed forward...i guess the same goes for the 2+0, i dont know
