recently i saw many bastards hitting others car with shopping trolley, snaping their car doors brutually to the car next to them, hit n go...etc n the worst is that their cars are obviously 'older' than the one they snap ......... i got more than 10 scratches on my car after parking in shopping center or train station.. unfortunately i wasn't there at the time so next time if u saw those losers copy their rego no or take a picture n put the detail on the windscreen of the damaged car pls .... do this for the community... n stop those selfish ppl ...........

Don't do anything illegal - like belting...

them. Assault arising from criminal damage is not a defence and you'll be ripped a new a$$hole by the police. Call the cops and really ham it up, and claim compensation for the damage. Who knows, you may get your Z completed re-painted at someone else's expense!
Well done for giving damn - too many people turn a blind I, not want to 'get involved'.

my story..I learnt a bit from this...(long)

NT I understand your angst!
Quite a few yrs ago had a new Magna. Parked it in the far (safe!) corner of the Woolies car park but on returning there was this old guy ('bout my age now!)& his wife reversing & smashing into side of my new magna.
I tried to stop him but he just said something like "whats a few dents mines got plenty" & took off. After lots of effort/detective work ('cos I was pretty unhappy!) & pursuing him thru mail I got him to pay 50% damage. He actually counter claimed I was directing him out!!!
One thing I learnt was: I never come back in a car park expecting my car to be as good as I left it!
My everyday car collects new (often very sigfnificant) carpark dings everyweek & these are from the people I work for/with!! But no point n being angry, gets you nowhere!

Egg ....

Yeah....

...if you belt them next thing you know they'll be applying for criminal damages or some of that other Government victims of crime cash.
I had a guy sit on my one week old GSXR-750 as it was parked in Surfers... suspension compresses and while this jerk sits on my bike and down it comes. :( he tried to run away but I tackled him and then sat on him till the cops arrived. :) the cops belted him when they arrived though. *laughs* drunk and full of lip about his powerful parents and friends.
Yes, he paid nearly $2k for a scratched lower cowling and a few other bits. (I pocketed the cash and just touched up the minor damage) cops told him pay for the damage or be charged!
Don't hit them... just sit on them and wait for the cops to arrive and bash em. :) *ducks* and make sure they can breathe. LOL
Cheers,

Solution >

simply don't park in car parks.
I always park across the road in a residential street and then walk to the shops or where ever it is I'm going. It's also often quicker than enterning and navigating through a car park looking for parking. Besides, I believe it's safer to have your car parked on the street.

I'll be worried about parallel parking

or those who can't parallel park and hit my car from front or back. Man, there's always a downside no matter how you park it. And on the street the car is more liable to get into accident from other cars passing by.I use Turtlewax polish to fix up some scratches but it's just not the same.%(

thought about it again

and I normally just find the nicest, most expensive car in the car park with slot next to it and park it there. If they still decide to ding my car, at least they'll ding their more expensive car too. Hopefully they don't leave their space before I come back too, cause some crapper of a car might take its place and do the dirty.:N(

I know what you mean

But you can minimize risk by parking at the end of a row of cars so there are no parking spaces behind you.
That way if someone does bump into you while parking they will just push up against your front bar whereas parking at the font of a row of cars leaves your rear bar vulnerable to being scraped rather badly. Parking anywhere in between leaves both front and rear bars open to attack.I agree there is no practical solution, however I think the risks are greater in car parks so that is why I opt for street parking. :YD

Parking on the street........>>

Didn't save the front of my car when the 4wd was trying to back into it for the 3rd time. The owner claimed that he thought he was only hitting the gutter and hadn't been able to see my car (what the....it is 4 meters long and RED!!!). If the car hadn't been parked right in front of the shop Jen was in I hate to think how many times he would have back into it before she stopped him by banging on his back window.

That's a very unfortunate incident Peter

Surely this guy had to drive past your Zed, therefore notice it, before attempting to reverse park his 4WD? If he thought your Zed wasn't there why didn't he just drive straight in as there would be two parking spaces available side by side, which means he wouldn't need to reverse park? But like I said you can only try and minimize risk, nothing short keeping your car locked up in the garage will guarantee its safety, and even then...

carless woman ..

i am not discriminating, in my 5 years driving experience, the fact is that do u guys also found that a lot of woman in Rw4 or whatever 4 wheel drive are really driving carelessly ... especially moving back ... changing lines.... traffic lights ..... ppl driving 4 wheel high car (Rav 4or other) r very aggressive ...... i think this is a point of psycological thinking .... i hv seen papers about Rav4 killing pedestrians ... cyclist ....
so next time when u see Rav 4 ..... be very careful ....be alert when the driver is woman ....... 8(

LOL Soccer Mom Strikes again!! :p

I really dislike 4WD's when they are used as daily drivers/shopping trolleys/mum's taxi etc...They were designed for off road use and should have stayed that way. Just venting, as most of my near misses are when these cities-on-wheels near run me off the road :N( Cheers

A lot worse. As it was the hitch on the 4wd actually cut into the front bar.
