i think you'll find most of the weight in the hatch comes from the glass

Yep i will get some photos when i get it MikeZ32,

Im getting the hatch from ebay cost will be about the $1k including freight from the US

ZedEx you might be right the rear glass does weight quite alot and thats why im thinking of replacing the glass with those light plastic ones speedglass i belive its called ?

Mine will be for a 2+0 but its available for 2+2 also but i think its abit more expansive

Its the double skinned metal that weighs the most.

With the hatch Carbon it is likely to shift the front/rear balance even more towards the front of the car. Bad move.

You end up having to put lead in the back to weight it correctly and fix the handling. But at least you can add it down low in the car doing this.

    IB ?????

Or you could put a lighter engine (VQ) up front:D

I dont think its a bad move at all especially on a 2+0 , when you excelerate some of the weight gets distributed to the rear and when you brake it distributes it at the front in my opinion the most importened weight distribution to get right is the left & right and not the front & back and also when you lower your car that also helps out with center of gravity witch also helps with the distribution of the weight forces

im going to bet the car handles better after its fitted , less weight is always good and its not critical to have perfectly even weight distribution front to back

. every one always says our zeds are front heavy but with a driver sitting basicly on the back wheel and some fuel in the tank wouldnt that make it 50 /50

the last thread that came up we unanimously concluded it you should save the $, change to a lighter engine instead. lighter glass would be cheaper and just as effective.

not to mention once that heavy stock hatch is gone, your zed basically has the handling characteristics of a ute. not exactly great for handling and... well anything really.
