Hi Forum Members, My story goes like this, had the rubber connecting fuel hose under the throttle body spring a leak so decided to replace it today, I did nearly everything that involves removing the plenum, managed to lift it enough with the egr still connected, pulled back the throttle cable pully things and swapped the hose. Put it all back together and started it up. started immediately only after a couple of seconds while the fuel went through idled and revved like normal and no fuel leaks Yay! took it for a drive went well, tried some leadfooting and got 10psi boost at 6000rpm. got back and noticed that the tps was reading .42v this is where i probably made the mistake while the car was still running I started to adjust it, the idle revs started to lift and fall as i tried to get .46v then the revs stayed up around 1500 but the tps said .46 and the throttle was fully closed, so i thought that turning the engine off may reset it . but now it wont start! what i've tried. disconnecting the battery for 15 min hopefully resetting ecu re adjusting the tps to .46v while the engine off and disconnect battery for 15 min. can adjusting the tps with the engine running cause problems? anyway i have left the battery disconnected for overnight to see if that resets the ecu any ideas anyone? cheers
thanks Kakaboy for your sugestions I have ecu talk display in the car and with the ignition on the tps and cas are showing values so i'm thinking the conectors must be okay
Once you have set the TPS to .45V you then have to disconnect the grey plug on the TPS for 20secs then reconnect it and the ECU resets itself
ok so i discovered another worse mistake, I had neglected to attach one of the earth wires on the plenum and the error code i'm getting is 21. so after searching the forum i see threads about burnt out ptu or ecu, anyone have a s2 ptu for sale? i'll replace that and see where to go from there. maybe have to get an expert to look at it.
Thanks for the replies Martin, AAZN and Magic, I just purchased one from carcraze so i'll wait till it arrives and see if it fixes the problem. If not then it doesn't hurt to have a spare, I also read in threads that i could have damaged the ecu, hope it's not that. cheers
