Hey guys great way to almost start the new year this morning started a huge problem for me it started out that the car felt it wasnt changing gears at the right revs it changes gear at around 4-4.5k and if i gave it a bit it felt it was slipping now this arvo drove it around and agin it happen but worst i suddenly lost my drive and reverse had to stop for a while and start it up again and limp my way home funny noises were coming out from underneath when i put into drive just wondering if this could be the torque converter or the whoel transmission itself cant believe it it was all fine on way home for the long weekend and now it just crap itself guess i have to take it to the shops and what cost am i looking at from different jobs e.g rebuilding servicing or exchanging the TC not my day today cheers guys
Excuse to upgrade the box! I think Raheen might have a UAS upgraded Auto 4 sale... Might pay to give him a PM. I think he was after $1200 also and it has been rebuilt with upgraded shift kit too! He is in Caboolture QLD i think...
rebuild i've heard of 2 to 3 grand all done and installed. ask pexzed. he had the one in his old zed rebuilt and upgraded. he'd know.
Might even pay to give this bloke a buzz and see if he'll ship it: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-300ZX...ZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2eaa144c46
R & R tranny about $400 labour. Sounds like yours is rooted and may cost ~3k to rebuild so a good 2nd handy is worth contemplating.
If you need to do it, send me a pm and we will work out what it will cost. I can vouch for magicmike's trans, excellent working condition and the price is right.
SOLD a while back Sold it a while back to a forum member, he is taking his zeds to the drags abit and reckons its sweet as... UAS do a reco for 2400 exchange now (freight will be a bitch) but definately a good result.
Sounds familar I had a similar problem, in my case the clutch packs disintergrated Easiest way is to dump the pan, check for crap (clutch pack) in there, if not then it would well be your torque converter, If your lucky it is as its a a heap cheaper to replace but still obviously a tranny out job.
the AUD is pretty good. might be worth going a new one shipped from USA.. ask tektrader or rob260, they both say new is the only way to go if you have the money for it.
Hey mate Did you check the automatic transmission fluid level? What your saying is can just be the cause of low fluid (know it was happening in my old VH V8 Commodore one of me 1st cars was learning on) but if not then yeah rooted gearbox, just thought I'd ask!
yeah checked it before my arvo test drive the colour was between red and brown and it was on the high level was hoping it was low level that was causing it but i guess not will have to get the car towed to a workshop tomorrow as today is a public holiday ciao
springfield lakes too late already got it towed to the workshop this morning want it on the road asap as its my daily thanks anywayz
