Sorry if this sounds a bit long winded.I need to get a 3 point immobiliser & also maybe an alarm as well installed.   I thought about the quiktrak system but this is probably overboard if I get full insurance on top. Quiktrak looks attractive if I get 3rd party insurance but if the zed gets hurt in anyway it wont be the same again :( Also I've heard u can turn off the fuel pump with conzult which Im building the interface atm, so theres an added bonus security factor. How are those FOB paging systems? Are they worth it.   Steelmate @ jaycar claims 2km communication I assume this to be a open air figure but might be a crappy brand? Friends have suggested Code, Warlock & cyclops. If anyone can suggest a reliable brand (especially one that doesn't falsely trigger all the time) and a good installer, I would be super greatful.   :-Z I'll check with shannons, since they seem pretty strict on their security requirements.

    I am with shannons.....

and they had no issue with me not having a 3 point immobiliser. I only have a 2 point immobiliser and they seemed quite happy with that, as long as it was black wired and met with australian standards. Because of this, I dont need to pay the theft excess if my car gets stolen.Cheers

    shannons

Jedi you with shannons as a daily driver? I have the feeling that they would only accept me as limited use. but that could just be the consultant that I had at that time on the phone. Will approach them again but this time in person.

    actually no....

I only really drive the zed on weekends. I told them this so they may have put me down as a limited. Thats ok with me, because I really dont drive the zed during the week, except for maybe friday.Cheers

    I see,

Yep that sounds more right, shannons limited use and justcars daily driver. I plan to be limited use as well but Im currently going through the pain of cleaning up my parents garage. Im only daily driving it atm to park it at my gf's carport to keep my poor baby out of the elements. :(

Apparently being in Tassie makes it a bit easier as theft is a lot less of a problem. But the guy I talked to said that most people shouldn't have too much trouble getting insurance with shannons if they're serious about their cars. He advised if anyone gets a no from them to take their car into the nearest Shannons place a talk to them one on one. Apparently they take to that a lot better as they supposedly get 600 - 800 phone calls a day in places like Sydney and Melbourne.

The Alarm Shannon's recommended to me...

... as Jedi mentioned needs to meet Australian Compliance, and Shannon's recommended to me the flashpoint FP600AUS Level 4 which is Australian Standards Approved #653.The Flashpoint Web Site has a list of authorised installers around Australia (as your profile does not mention what state your in?).Hope this helps,
    Rob

    Im with Shannons

And was told in November last year the only two they reccommend is Cyclops and Cobra.
I had a sh*tfight with the guy who owns Cobra initially and had it ripped out and a Cyclops fitted
