removing the engine. From what I could see you would have to take the timing belt off and crank pulley. You'd most probably have to remove the oil pan and then unbolt the pump at the front.

from what I remember, it can.

definitely have to take sump off which means unbolting the crossmember and supporting engine on hoist etc. Big job :)

    I think...

if you have to remove the oil pan to get to the pump then yes the engine has to come out. I was reading a thread yesterday on ttnet that said it was impossible (near enough) to get to all the bolts otherwise. Cant talk from experience though.BTW Chewy, have you got windows messanger? If so message me at nathan_m_stewart@hotmail.com, ive got the ES bushings kit in front of me but Im not sure which is the one you need measurements for. Ive got a tape measure here handy if you get in touch. If you cant get me Ive probably gone to bed though. Long night, hell sleepy.

I'm considering doing it when I change the

lifters over as the crank pulley will be off and so it's just a matter of removing the oil pan to get the oil pump out. My oil pressure seems to be lower than what everyone else states theirs to be and I have a new OPS unit. It'll most probably never happen as I'm too slack to do that much work though.

    IB ?????

Are you sure that's not due to....

all the other stuff you have attached to your oil system? Do you run the cooler constantly or at pressure like standard?

I'd definitely double check ur oil pressure

with another gauge before going to all that trouble. I replaced my OPS when I rebuilt the engine and most of the time it read half of what my aftermarket gauge reads. I also installed the a/market gauge in the external lines leading to the oil filter and accusump to give more accurate readings, simple T-piece in the line and it's easier to get at :) I have another gauge here if u wanna try it out.

it is possible, I removed mine before

pulling the engine out for rebuilt. Hardest thing was getting the pan off, due to Nissan's red gasket goo (top stuff).

    looks to me its possible

spent the last two days staring at that area as I was again replacing the seals and looking ot see where a leak may be and I thought of taking of the oil pump just for the hell of it, check it out, clean it etc and looked to be easily done, hard part is getting all the rest done to get at it normally.
