Replace it? Wtf? Dude it's a tiny bit of surface rust, get some sand paper and cut it back and repaint it or just leave it all together. It's not even bad....

It still doesn't need to be replaced and I bet it's just surface rust.

Surface rust is what you get with steel.

Keeping it primed and painted is the protection. If you scratch the paint then the surface rust will be there in no time.

What you need to be wary of is corrosion. That is, rust spots that have developed to such an extend as they pentrate right through the steel and weaken it accordingly. Surface rust is not corrosion and is an easy fix.

Well don't quote me on it until i further look at it and take photo to show but i think not surface rust.

i think it was like pealing rust/metal corrosion

was too busy pulling everything of for engine pull.

photo tomorrow arvo to see 100%

1.) I'd call it the radiator support beam/bracket, though god knows what Nissan calls it.

2.) This is corrosion rust, see how it goes all the way through and flakes. Yours only looks like surface rust to me:

    DO NOT REPLACE IT

haha i bought my 300zx to find mine was snapped down the center, its not an easy part to replace, needing the front of the car dismantled, then unbolted and cut out, and a new one prepped and welded back in.

its either called the lower radiator support or radiator cross member by many panel beaters.

What you could try doing is putting a wirebrush on an electric drill and having a thorough go at the area. See how it looks without as much paint. If its *mostly* only surface rust, that should clear most of it away and give you a better picture.

    Surface rust?????:eek::eek:
Does no one see the large hole, directly above the bolt on the Tension Rod Bracket(right side of the pic)?
That is some pretty serious "surface rust".
That is also the exact area where several of these have torn apart in recent months, mine included(try SEARCH).

My mates S30 looks just like that in various places. And he's got another out the back in worse condition being cannibalised for the not so bad one.

Mine was welded up by a local chassis builder(but it was cracking, not rusting).
Get a welder in your area to have a look at it(they will be able to better assess the situation, than we can from a photo).

Did you not see my mostly? I even had *'s! :p Of course I noticed the big hole... I was simply saying to investigate further with a wirebrush to show the extent of the damage fully so he can have an adequete idea of what can be done. i.e, weld a new bar. Weld a 90 degree peice for that whole edge. Get an entire one from a wreck, etc.

    Geez..
