    Hey guys,

Believe it or not I need advise on how to remove a little metal clip!

I am half way through an engine replacement, and need to remove the old wiring harness, which unfortunately involves removing the a/c unit to get at the 2 10mm bolts behind the a/c unit.

    I'm following this: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=267131&highlight=heater

I have removed the blower box and am up to removing the a/c box however I am unable to remove one of the metal clips from the back on the driver's side of the box......

This is a photo from the guide I'm following, it's the box on the right, same clips as those being pointed to but on the back side of the unit.

Just wondering if anyone else who's done this job struggled with this and has any tips?

Started removing the dash Tuesday night and had to stop when I got to this, and then I couldn't get it out when I had another go last night. This clip is literally holding up my engine replacement job for which I am currently borrowing an engine crane...

Any advise would be appreciated, I'm going to see if I can get at it with side cutters this arvo although I doubt I will be able to.

I've managed to get a flat head screw driver tip into the top of the clip but I still can't remove it as when I try to pry the clip open the screw driver tip pulls out, the clip must have very little to leverage with.

    Cheers,

    Harry.

Try searching in threads for changing engine wiring loom. Dont need to remove those clips, box comes out in one piece. You certainly have to remove A/C Evaporator, I take it that you have depressured and disconnected A/C unit, Dont have to remove dash, just have to unbolt fan unit to allow enough room for evaporator unit to drop out. Replacing the engine loom can be done nearly as easily with engine in place.

Spring clips are easy to remove with a small screwdriver pushed across under the clip then pull up.

When I replaced my engine wiring harness, I didn't even remove my dash. Just the glove box.

You don't need to remove those clips around the AC box. Just remove the top mounting bolt then the two 10mm nuts towards the bottom rear of it holding it down to the ECU mounting bracket. Make sure the AC hard lines are disconnected, then wiggle and she shall come out.

Jamerss is correct, there are just a few nuts holding it in there

assuming you've degassed the AC, if not getting a screwdriver under the flat section of the clips gives much better grip and pops them off without much trouble, once you figure out how to get the screwdriver in there.

I haven't degassed my AC. I've been hoping to leave it gassed. Hence why I need to remove the casing of this box. Have gotten a screwdriver into the clip but it still wont come off.

    Got it!! :D

Putting it all back together's going to suck, but I can do that after I get the engine running so i don't care :)

    Thanks guys,
