Ok well i found a new engine... im buying it from a place called JPC (Japanese parts centre). the engine has done under 100kms, they say they have done a compression test that the engine isnt cracked that there are no leaks or anything. But they can't print out the results of the compression test, and when i ask for them to do a compression test and show me the results they say its a waste of time cause when they import the engine from japan they do a compression test. they also give 3 months warranty on the engine and the labour work. They are charging me $1850 for the engine and to put it in?

    Any Advice?

    Cheers, Oleg

if there is 3 months warranty, when you buy the engine, in an email state that if the compression isnt up to par, it is covered by the warranty. ask if they will stand by their guarantee.

Do a comp test before install and if OK, do a full 100k/200k service.

do a plenum pull while the engine is out also....it is MUCH easier when the motor is on a stand rather than in the bay

From a commercial mob it certainly seems to be, but I can't tell if is a TT or NA. I was looking for a motor 8 months ago, and everything was in the $2200-$2800 range for a basic TT with comp varying from so-so to pretty fair.

And then there was Tekky's engine at <$2K which I missed out on coz it was snapped up quickly ......

NA I believe. But remember that includes labour to put the enigne in which is very good IMO.
