Hello all, im new to here :)

I'll give you the full background story. I currently own a Nissan N13 Exa, and are rebuilding a u11 ca18det for it (fwd yes i know), after giving it a degreasing i regretably discovered that half the engine number had been scrapped off, when i found this i was a tad unhappy. Well u11 and u12 ca18s are not common so finding another one would be difficult. I have been trying to get in touch with the RTA in hope they can help me find a solution, so far its been unfruitful and im seeing my project die.

So in around a fortnight im going to New Zealand for a holiday till about mid may, when i return i want to gather my finances together and start looking for a Zed. I've read the 'A to ZX' pdf and done a search, and was wondering if there is any other common issues that i should keep an eye out for when looking for a Zed.

    Any help will be appriciated

Depending on if you are a P plate driver or not, NA and TT are both availible these days at roughly the same price.

I would recommend you go for a later model 93+ as there were minor changes made which will render it that little bit more reliable.

These cars are not as bad as people make out, all though they arent as easy as your average sportcars aswell. You need to spend an extra here or there, and the ZX will look after you in the long run.

Dont use KM as an indication of the cars condition (applys mainly to import models, TT etc.) instead look at the condition of the little things like steering wheel, seat bolster, gear knob, pedels, 100,000km service etc. as an indication of the rough KM the car would of traveled and how it was treated.

My TT is now on approx. 150,000km on the clock, shes running better than my previous ZX which had 94,000km on the clock, which was in the same physical condition :O

Good luck mate with your search.

Also, where is the 'A to ZX' pdf. file located???

I am a P plater, but fortunately for me im one of the lucky few who got my license before those laws came about, so therefore i have no restriction on the power of my car. I am able to go for my blacks at anytime at the moment but due to work hours i cant right now.

Thanks heaps for that i will take it on when im looking at Zeds to buy :)
