Thinking of buying a 1995 Z32 from victoria with a fair few mods (Wheels, Lowered Suspension, A/M Exhaust, Pod, SMIC Intercoolers)

Does anyone know what the go is with transfering ownership in terms of rego and a Road Worthy Cert?

I am considering driving it back to QLD where I live atm.

There is a similar thread about this in 2006 (http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=251867&highlight=interstate+registration) But I don't know if the same things still apply.

    1. Is a VIC RWC Any Good in QLD?
    2. Whats the most hassle free way to transfer rego (I don't know anyone living in victoria)? - What documentation do I need for QT?

I found some documentation on the QT Website. More Specifically Form F3518

    http://www.support.transport.qld.gov.au/qt/formsdat.nsf/8947c9bfbd134b464a25669000137547/2e83c2735ae075334a2566d00002a458/$FILE/F3518_es.pdf

It would indicate that I need a QT Issued Safety Certificate to register in QLD.

However, it doesn't help with explaining what i need to be coverred by CTP in driving the car home from victoria....

This could be a can of worms; buy car, have to bring to stock to register. Although they are only relatively minor mods.

Stock intercoolers and airbox shouldn't be to exxy to come by, Stock wheels should be cheap. Only worry is the ride height and exhaust....

Anyone done this before; have any words of wisdom?

If the car is registered in Victoria there are no CTP issues in driving it up to Qld. If it is unregistered you can get a limited permit from the Vic RTA which includes CTP to drive it up there. Pretty cheap and only lasts a month I think.

As for rego in Qld, I can't help you except that a fellow I met up there once was knocked back on the safety certificate because of adjustable front and rear camber arms and the lowered springs.

He needed the certificate to sell the car. In the end he sold it un-registered and it was subsequently blue slipped and re-registerd in NSW without drama. Hopefully he was just unlucky.

As I understand it, you could drive the car to QLD as long as it is registered somewhere. For it to be registerable in QLD though you will need a QLD safety cert anyway, so I don't think there is an easier way.

I had a bit of trouble as a second owner from an originally Vic imported car, but mine was more difficult based on the lack of a compliance plate and some worn suspension/exhaust components.
