Yesterday i went to look at a 300zx.
Today I did a REV's check and look what come back.

Has anyone had REVS come back false or incorrect?
I really liked the car and I have paid quite a large deposit on the car allready.
After recieving this response it has made me a little nervous. I will phone REVS tomorrow and try investigate it.

Hopefully it all turns out ok. The vehicle details have been removed. VIN/REGO to protect the owner in cause this is false infomation.

    DANGER WILL ROBINSON! :!)

Under police investigation can't be good. Unless maybe the car had been stolen previously or something? I had that happen to me years ago and got the car back and then had a cop pull me over and ask did I know that my car had been stolen months ago. So maybe the revs check hasn't been updated or something.
If it were me I would steer clear and DEFINITELY get a hold of revs and find out more about the report.Hope it turns out ok.
    Cheers

    Could be wrong

When you pay off a loan, finance companies usually 'forget' to correct the records on the computer. When I bought my zed, the owner encouraged me to do a REVS check. Came back as saying 'There is still financial interest owing on the vehicle'. So he had to ring the company and get it fixed. When I paid off my bike, and then try to sell it, I had problems too because the finance company had not updated their records. (and it was several months after paying it off I tried to sell it). So then I had hassles with getting a refund on the insurance premium etcWouldn't worry all that much at this stage. Just make sure you dont purchase it while the REVS check has failed.

REVS check on my Z failed too

It came up 'under police investigation','please contact police immediately if you know the whereabouts of this vehicle'. I had also paid a deposit. The owner had never had finance over the car. It turned out that the number plate had matched with a stolen motor bike!! The computer can not separate bikes and cars but when you phone they can. So don't panic. But clear it before you buy!

are you buying from a dealer ?

I'm not sure of other states, but if buying from a dealer they have an obligation under law to make sure the car has free title. other than that I'd stay away. WHat is REV's anyway,. I thought there was a free number to check if car has free title from vicroads.HAd a Trans AM... after it burnt down insurance schecked the VIN number and there was a mismatch in the number, car was supposed to be black but it was white ...possible stolen car from US...BB

    No, it's a private sale.

    Phew. there was an explanation.

Firstly the plates where reported stolen 5 years ago and where still in REVS database.

    And the finance is cleared.

    ;)
