    Hey guys and gals.
Some of you may have noticed me winging about my car running a little rough and underpowered.
Recently fixed my dirty fuel issue.
    No change.
Measured the resistance of my injectors today.
All bar one gave a reading of between 12.1 and 12.3 ohms.
The other gave a reading of roughly 43 ohms!
Checked and rechecked all readings atleast 5 times.
    Time to pull the injectors?

    Yeh mate.
    Just stockies.
    Thats good price!
I'd want to do all 6 at once to be on the safe side.
Unfortunatley the bank account says no =[
moving into a new place in a couple of weeks so all my savings will be smashed when in pay bond and bills for the old place etc.
Can't even afford to reregister my skyline so the zed is the daily for the moment.
Will probly have to wait till after christmas.
Might put on a techday if any act zedders would be interested?
I've never done an in car plenum pull, not looking forward to it!

Mate i've been to one up here in Brisbane, my first one and met a lot of great people, very helpful and friendly and always a good way to learn more about your car. You could always get rid of the skyline and use the money to do more work to your ZED ;) . I do believe there is a few Zedders in the ACT so that'll help, and from my understanding it is a biggish job and helps if you have all the bits you need ready as well. Good luck with it.

    Thanks mate.
The skyline is just an old r31 so not worth selling =P
drives like a boat but it serves me well as a reliable daily =]
I've swapped my plenum over from my old engine onto the new one so I have some idea of what I'm doing, but yeh it's a totally different ballgame engine in.

Get the engine started and let it idle. Then get a long screwdriver and put the end on the injector cap and stick your ear to the handle. You should be able to hear the injector clicking. This is just another test to see if the injector is firing- although the resistance seems to suggest it's buggered.

Yeh I've done the screwdriver trick.
They all appear to tick along just fine.

High resistance would suggest that the coil is stuffed, that is, the unit is either firing sporadically or not at all...
So looks like a new injector might be in order. If you've done a plenum pull before, its another 15min work after the thing is disassembled.

yeh it sounded just as regular as the other ones

Like I said, the coil is not entirely rooted (otherwise a resistance test would show 'open loop'), but probably on the way out. This might mean that at higher revs, the recovery time of the injector might be slow, or might only fire 1 in every 3 ignition events. Service manual say resistance should be between 10-14 ohms, or else replace injector (EF/EC-183)

It seems you have found your own problem. In short, answering the initial question in post 1: "Yes" :)
Don't be put off though, its a relatively easy job. Hardest part is getting the old injector out. If money is tight, just replace with one which has a suitable 'in-spec' resistance, and upgrade / get the whole lot serviced down the track.
