Hey where could i get my exhaust checked to see if its legal etc... I was pulling out of shops after talking to my mate and department of transport blokes told my mate to tell me that i need to fix my exhaust or they will come give me a $300 fine and 3 points. North Side brissy if anyone knows a good place. Cheers
Can get it checked at the EPA wouldn't reccomend it though lol....Any exhaust shop can check it....what is the current setup? probs just needs some mufflers to quieten it up
I called like 10 exhaust shops etc etc... Finally found Rob Bliss exhaust and they gonna do a check on it, Im going to take a wild guess and say its to loud. Soudns fairly mean for an N/A not to sure on what the set up is as i havent seen underneath with my own eyes. Been told by mechanics it has some performance exhaust on it and i know it has jasma 3" cannons on :> Thinking of putting it up for sale :< will miss it but im sick of gettin bugged by cops etc etc and my license will be gone soon with the way my luck has been going lately
JASMA is not a brand name, it is an association that sets guidelines for muffler manufacturers(Japanese Automotive Sports Muffler Association, I believe). Once you have it checked for noise level, just get it quietened down(if needed)by fitting a couple of small resonators in the exhaust pipes.:zlove:
Oh, Just figured it was a brand name since it was printed on the cannons. Yeh they said its easily fixed if so and they can after fixing it give me a written form etc. to carry around with me Until i run into another unknown issue with the law my car has. Also i heard they test it at about 3/4 max rpm? i recon thats a bit since i personally rarely reach 2/4 rpm with it as a daily
Best way to drop the police attention is to get the car looking as OEM as possible while you're on your Ps. Stock/mundane looking rims, get your exhaust silenced as much as possible and ditch the cannons for something moderate. Also get the paint job finished and use your "other" bonnet. I haven't been harassed once. Also, if you're feeling disheartened about the car losing some of its growl, get yourself a good set of headers. The warbling flatulance of an oversized exhaust system is nothing compared to the sound you get out of the NA engine with good headers.
Its not up to... regardless of what RPM you normally drive at, exhausts are tested at 70% of peak power. In an NA, that is (from memory) around the 4200 rpm mark. Could be 4800 cant quite remember.
yeh, I personally dont know what it would be at hopefully the lesser of the two This is what it was like when i first picked it up a few months ago.. After looking they arent 3" cannons i got 4" cannons inside http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ss668LU2_w This is what it sounds like now. (from my phone, sound bit messed even on higher quality 720) Running richer then it was when i first got it. Can see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4nG7oNo0NI
That is pretty loud man don't know whats going on there...defs need some resonators and a set of good mufflers...maybe look into a UAS x-pipe? and yeah good headers as well
Rob Bliss is probably one of the best in the Business, i've used him on all but 3 of my cars of varying makes over the years. His son runs the show now but he learnt of his dad and he knows his stuff and the rules.
