As the heading says, I've parked up, but the brake lights are staying on, any ideas?

Idea #1 - Check the switch activated by the brake pedal.

i just fixed this on my zed the other week
get a light and get up under your dash, drivers side.
locate brake light module at the top of your brake peddle.
you'll find a weird green color washer made out of rubber that has perished.
have a look on your carpet in the foot well, you'll probably find bits laying around.

This is what happened to mine

To fix it is an easy job
I just used 3 washers and a bolt the same size as the original pin and glued it in place with some kind of metal bonding adhesive. worked fine for me

I had the same problem, replaced the broken green button with a new one from Z1 motorsport.

just out of interest though I found two broken green buttons in my foot well is that normal?

also what is the black clip from shown in the photo?

do you mean 2 pieces of the green rubber washer ?
Im not sure if there is other green rubbers up there.

the black pin goes through the green rubber and is connected to the top of your brake peddle.
when you release the peddle the pin pushes in the button on your brake light module turning the lights off. when you push your brake peddle in the pin is removed from the module releasing the button allowing your brake lights to turn on.

the other one is likely cruise control id say. they work on a siilar switch on the pedal.

strange as i defintly found the remnants of two green ones, but my car is a 89 model, lacking cruise control etc.

the car was cleaned inside when I bought it some I'm certain it wasn't the remains of one on then replaced with the other, I had thought it was related to the clutch :/

there wasn't a hole on the green grommet I replaced it with for the black pin shown in the pic, the grommet just rests on the plastic part of the brake switch.

not overly important as everything works as it should (at least seems too) but it has me curious none the less.

    cheers
